Nasty service and flavorless food.
On Saturday we gathered here with family for a birthday lunch for my wife. Almost immediately did we notice that this place was struggling. There were only about three small tables of guests but it took us almost 15 minutes to get seated and we had a reservation. To start with we had a party of seven and they tried to seat us at two small tables pushed together. We ask if we could slide over another table and the host lady grumbled under her breath and rolled her eyes. Then finally agreeing to let us move another table so we could all sit down. We sat at our table for another 15 minutes before we were brought water and menus. The waiter finally arrived and tells us we are not allowed to order steaks! Seriously this is a steak house and we can’t buy steaks!?!?!?! After we asked to speak with the manager, (which never came over) the waitress told us we could order steaks but couldn’t order any of the sides or sauces available on the menu. After waiting another twenty minutes our waiter finally came back and took our order. This place has an open kitchen and we could see the man running the grill, he was wearing headphones and looking very upset that he had to make our steaks. Using all of his weight to literally smash all of our steaks on the grill. Being it was an open kitchen we saw them plate our food and leave it under lights for almost another ten minutes. All while watching our server hang out with the other two tables she had and then sit down at the bar and chat with the bar tender. I thought she might be picking up drinks, but no she was just sitting at the bar. Finally a random runner brought us our cold food. After the first bite I was disappointed and so were the rest of our group. The food was completely flavorless and unseasoned. The potatoes I ordered were hard and not cooked and the onion and peppers with it were raw as well. I finally got the waiters attention and ask for salt, to which she replied “seriously!” Then rolled her eyes and went to the kitchen where we saw her talking to the kitchen staff and pointing at our table and throwing her hands in the air. After several minutes she returned with a small salt shaker which she begrudgingly threw on our table. Not only was my food flavorless, every dish we had was as well. My whole family hated the overpriced meal. The food wasn’t even cooked properly. My steak, which was supposed to be rare came out almost brown it was so over and my mother in laws steak which was supposed to be well down was bloody. This whole meal took almost two hours and 90% of that time was spent with us just sitting and waiting. The worst part is that there were hardly any customers there besides us. Using the bathroom after we ate and both the men’s and women’s bathrooms smells HORRIBLE, literally like something died in there. Plus in the men’s bathroom the sinks didn’t even work and the one sink was completely falling apart. We tried again to speak to a manager but had no luck. We could even see him in his bright blue shirt running around talking to everyone but us.
What was supposed to be an amazing birthday lunch for my wife and our family turned into an outrageously expensive crap meal with some of the worst service I have had to date here in Vegas.
This was a very disappointing experience, and completely ruined what was supposed to be a wonderful birthday for my wife. Shame on this establishment and everyone...
Read moreThere are many great things about the new Echo & Rig in Henderson. The steak cuts are excellent and not the normal type of cuts or meats you would get elsewhere. I highly suggest the Spencer, which is a cut from a ribeye mostly from the middle. The way the steaks are cooked give it a beautiful smoky flavor. We had 3 steaks and they were all cooked perfectly. We all agreed that the brandied mushroom sauce for the steak was the best.
We tried the lobster cigars and the crabcake and both are worth trying. I personally really liked the crabcake. If you like heirloom veggies, definitely get the carrots.
It's was my mom's bday and the staff was respectful of that note in my reservation, telling her happy bday but also not in a way that could make you feel uncomfortable. I can tell that the management has a focus on good customer service because a few of the managers were making rounds to each table, welcoming people and relaying information on reservations (for me saying happy bday to my mom). Mom ordered the Hoop La drink, and it was surprisingly very good! I usually enjoy a bourbon or vodka drink, and the Hoop La tastes a bit like a bourbon-forward drink even though it's Courvoisier VS Cognac. For dessert they gave us a free turtle sundae, with salted caramel ice cream. It was really good! They didn't sing happy bday, THANK YOU, and put a candle in the dessert.
Extra information I learned while there is that you can bring in your own bottle of wine, limit one per person. There is no corking fee, and even if you bring a brand they have in the restaurant you're welcome to bring any wine! I will definitely do this next time!
Now some of the downsides: As others have said, it's very loud/the acoustics are bad. It didn't bother me until later in the night when a loud table was sat next to us. For about 30mins I could hear nothing but the other table. Not much to do about that other than soften the décor in the future. I think next time we visit we'll go during a late lunch time to avoid the noise. It's also very hot in the restaurant, but hey, it's over 100 degrees in Vegas right now.
Some of the food runners were not very pleasant. I don't blame them as they are probably paid less than the rest of the staff, but a little extra positive customer service would go a long way.
Our server was appropriately connecting with us regularly, but I have an important note for not just this person (I will not name names because he did an excellent job other than this) but for all staff in a restaurant. Do not touch your customers. This male server touched my mom and my shoulders and arms many times. My husband was there too and he did not touch him. NEVER touch your customers. It's inconsiderate and unprofessional.
We will be returning in the future! Great food, good staff, and overall worth...
Read moreWe came here to celebrate our anniversary and made our reservation a month in advance, specifically requesting a booth. You’d think after holding that information for four weeks, it wouldn’t be an issue, right? But the moment we walked in, the host greeted us with, ‘I don’t have a booth available right now, but I can give you this half booth.’
We politely said that wasn’t acceptable, especially since this was clearly noted well in advance. Instead of resolving it right away, we were asked to wait so they could clean a table that’s empty, which became a 10 minute wait. All while we watched other guests walk in after us and be seated immediately. Two hosts, not one took initiative to get the table ready. They ran to their manager who then cleaned it up. Mind you, one host was walking past our table all evening doing nothing. Just walking past us every couple minutes going to and from the back. Not a good look.
Once we finally sat down, our server came to take our order. We were starving, so we ordered everything up front. To her credit, she noticed one of our items conflicted with a food allergy we’d mentioned and quickly let us know. That attention to detail was appreciated.
A few minutes later, she brought over a complimentary house salad for us to share. A nice touch, sure, but we soon realized it was their quiet way of softening the blow of what turned into a one-hour wait for our main dishes. It would’ve been nice to be told up front that the delay was going to be that long.
We sat and watched as tables who ordered after us get served before us. When we finally asked, we were told, “Well-done takes longer.”Maybe, but an hour longer? Unlikely.
What made it worse was the lack of communication. Our server passed by our table multiple times, clearly seeing us waiting, and never stopped to offer an update or reassurance. I finally had to call her over to ask what was going on. Completely unacceptable, especially on a night that was supposed to feel special.
By the time the food finally arrived, we’d almost forgotten why we were there, what we ordered, or that we were even hungry anymore. Thankfully, the food itself was excellent and flavorful, cooked perfectly, and easily the highlight of the night. That’s the only reason this is a 2-star review instead of 1. The food was great, but at the end of the day, there are plenty of steakhouses that can deliver a great meal and great service.
Would we go back? Absolutely, but with no reservations, not as dressed up, not for ANY OCCASION because it will be ruined with the amount of time it takes to wait for the food, and would 100% sit at the bar because all those people got their...
