Griddlecakes is a quaint breakfast joint located off Eastern Ave. near the 215 off-ramp. There isn't anything special or extraordinary about this restaurant. It's just a good, solid breakfast joint.
The menu is fairly standard, with the only real exception being that Griddlecakes offers gluten-free pancakes. So those with allergies or sensitivities to gluten can come here and enjoy some delicious pancake dishes.
Service at Griddlecakes is okay. I've had times where I ate here and was served very promptly. Other times, I felt completely ignored by the waitstaff, who took forever to get me my food and never checked in to see if I needed refills or not. In fact, sometimes this place gets so busy that it will often take a while to get your food (one visit I thought they'd forgotten about me completely, since other members in my party got served their dishes and I had to wait another 10 minutes for mine to come out). However, when the food does come, it's always hot and ready to be eaten.
My biggest complaint about Griddlecakes is that the establishment is extremely small. That means it gets crowded quickly and often times there is a wait to be seated which can last anywhere from 10 minutes to 45 minutes depending on how busy they are. And there are no comfortable places to sit and wait outside, so often you are forced to stand around in the sun waiting for your name to be called. And when you do get seated, the establishment can be so crowded that it's extremely noisy and hard to hear the other members of your party. This isn't an issue if you sit out on the patio, but the outside seating options are even more limited than those on the inside (and sometimes the Vegas weather makes sitting outside rather uncomfortable).
Overall, I've been to better (and more comfortable) breakfast joints than Griddlecakes. The only reason I ever really go to this restaurant is when my gluten-free breakfast loving girlfriend wants pancakes. Outside of that, I prefer to go other places for my breakfast needs.
I can't honestly recommend Griddlecakes for the reasons I've listed. The food here just isn't anything unique or special enough to recommend suffering through the wait and cramped dining room for. You can get just as good of a breakfast at IHOP or Denny's and be more comfortable while eating it. Griddlecakes is really only worth going to if you're looking for a good gluten-free pancake breakfast option. Other than that, I'd recommend checking out a different, more comfortable, breakfast...
Read moreGreat food but I should have believed the reviewer that said "just order one", as in, you're definitely not going to need that full stack of pancakes lol! A full stack of pancakes looked like I ordered a cake to the table. I was splitting this meal with someone else and neither of us could finish it. I ordered the smores pancakes, which were good but the only thing smores about it is really just the topping. The pancake itself tastes like a chocolate protein pancake imo, which wasn't bad, I was just expecting there to be chocolate chips in the batter or something. The real gem of this place was the lemon blueberry pancake!! I ordered the single (about $5 per pancake) and I thought this was unique, lightly sweetened, and not super rich and decadent like the chocolate one. If you're looking for some nice service and some big fun pancakes, this is a cool spot to get that sweet fix đ
A lot of people complain about how small it is and yes, it is very small with maybe 3 tables outside and maybe 12 tables inside? BUT I came here on a weekday in the afternoon and was seated right away and was promptly taken care of. I bet weekends are crazy here though!
Dog Friendly?: I won't say no but just realize that their 'patio' area is a spot right outside the entrance with about 3 tables. Obviously, no pets inside the restaurant unless they're service animals. But if it's not crazy hot outside and you can get a seat out there, you can have...
Read moreI went there because they had great reviews for gluten free options. First off, we waited over 30 minutes to get seats. That's fine, it was the 45 minutes we waited after getting seats to even be greated that turned me off. We finally downloaded the menu off their website so we'd be ready when they ever got to us. Our waitress didn't even talk to us. Just brusk and rude. But since I was there for gf breakfast, I decided to suffer through the wait and rudeness. I shouldn't have bothered. The pancakes and waffles are made with a cheap gf mix called pamelas. I could make this at home. But I don't because it's a very dry tasteless mix. There are far better options out there. I could barely choke a bite down. My partner had a sandwich and it was a great soggy mess more sopping wet bread than meat or cheese. And their frsh squeezed oj was a nightmare. The waitress did tell us it's pulpy. But there's extra pulpy and then there's juice so thick you have to chew it. It was like someone squeezed the orange in their hand and dropped it in the glass. I could only get a sip of juice, the rest was chewing. It wasn't pleasant. Never once did the waitress ask how our food was. We ended up going to the register ourselves because the bill never came. Nothing will convince me to give them a...
