Definitely a pass on Brandy's. I realize that they've only recently opened but they still have a long way to go.
The restaurant was empty on a Saturday at 6:00, which is not a great sign. The host seemed very confused and flustered despite having a nearly empty restaurant.
The server was pleasant enough and I really have no complaints about her service. I ordered a drink (vodka tonic) and when she brought it she warned me that the bartender is "heavy handed" with the liquor and offered to bring me an extra glass of tonic. A nice gesture but also indicative of a poorly run bar.
When she brought the bread she mentioned that it was made in-house so we were excited to try it. We were sadly disappointed. The bottom was raw while the top was almost burnt. The butter also appeared to be two different colors. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be that way but it came across as thrown together without thought.
I ordered the pretzel for an appetizer, I absolutely LOVE pub pretzels, but again was extremely disappointed. What I received was not a pretzel. It was bread baked into a pretzel shape with some Parmesan but not a single flake of salt. That was another theme for the evening, nothing was seasoned properly, or seasoned at all. I had the burger, which was fine. Nothing special and the house-made chips were barely edible and again, no salt. My wife ordered the Cesar salad with grilled salmon. The salmon was cooked properly but had no seasoning at all. The lettuce was limp and brown but the dressing was the real tragedy. I love a good Cesar dressing funkiness, but this was not that. It was foul to the point of being rancid. To her credit, the server did her best to apologize and removed the salad from the bill.
I was really hoping for a new go-to restaurant in downtown Hendersonville, but unfortunately...
Read moreThis was my anniversary dinner with my wife. First time dining with you all. We found the space to be nicely put together and the ambiance was pleasant.
As for the food and drinks, I must say, we were disappointed. My wife ordered a mojito and it was incredibly bland and overpowered by sweetness and rum. There was no lime or soda water, or so it seemed. As for our meal, we started with the Dimaggio and the McEnroe. The DiMaggio was nice, definitely superior to the McEnroe. In the McEnroe the grits were quite bland and the red sauce seemed like an afterthought and didn't fit the dish. For our entrees we both ordered the old blue eyes. The beef was beautiful and the presentation was great. The beef was perfectly cooked to temperature but had no salt or anything to being out its flavor! The lobster topping was very overcooked and dry as well. Sides were garlic truffle fries and the cheese grits. The fries were good but nothing to rave about and the grits were unsalted and in dire need of something to jazz them up.
Overall, the meal was underwhelming and I expected better based on the reviews I had read and the $120 price for two. I'm happy to pay good money for food but it has to be better than 3/5 stars. To be honest, I don't think we'd come back. Just wanted to give my honest opinion and feedback so you are...
Read moreFirst I want to start off saying that our waitress Chloe was absolutely amazing, so kind and very knowledgeable. My husband and I go out to many different places and Chloe put the standard high to how we would like to be treated when we go out to enjoy a date. Most places workers are either rude or too round up with stress and anxiety to offer you a great service. Chloe was amazing with good interaction/ social skills.
Secondly, the atmosphere was very calm and relaxing, the restaurant was smoothly running with a great team.
And lastly, the food was incredible all the way around. We started out with escargot, and then my husband ordered “old blue eye” which was a filet cooked perfectly to his temp of med rare and topped with lobster. I ended up ordering the special which was Halibut with scallops on top of rice pilaf and asparagus with a white sauce. And ended the night with a crème brûlée (which let me just say how perfect this crème brûlée was, perfectly torched on top and the portion was perfect with Great consistency throughout, a lot of places like to make this dessert thick and this dessert should be quality over quantity and that’s a hard concept for most to understand. Brandys Nailed it.
10/10 recommend and I cannot wait...
