It was Monday Morning Exactly Around The Times Between 1:OO [AM] â&â 2:50(ish) [AM]. -3 days ago from today , 5-26-22.. I came to eat with my great uncle. My uncle just came from Cuba and was having a rough night and couldn't sleep. He tried I HOP for his first time a week ago at the location close to MIA (airport). He wanted to go again because the service and food at that other location was amazing. Unfortunately that location is not 24 hours so we came to this IHOP located on 49th St.
So I, (Young female, 28 years old) - and my uncle walked in. No one was at the Host' Stand. a young female waitress came out and said we could sit on her side of the restaurant. She said this from across the room holding a broom. We grabbed our own menus and sat ourselves. every single booth was dirty. We sat ourselves at the only booth that we thought was clean but was definitely not clean as we noticed sticky residue on the table. She didn't come over to wipe it for us or to give us silverware either. I had to call her over to take our order when we were ready. Still didn't clean the table and sill no silverware. Every single table was dirty on her side of the restaurant. She was cleaning but there was no progress at all in her actions. as the same tables were still the same way when we left as they were when we arrived... still no tables wiped and set. (It's 1:00am, it wasn't time for closing shift side work duties) our drinks came out with my plate I ordered which were swedish crepes that were for sure sitting on the side throughout the shift . they were hard and no powdered sugar was on them. then the 2x2x2 my uncle ordered did not get his meal for about 13 minutes after my plate came out. I had to ask again from across the room for his food. in that 13 minutes time frame she greeted two young girls for take out and took her time at the front organizing her check book and still "cleaning".... our drinks were two strawberry milkshakes and they were not made correctly. No fresh strawberry's and lumps of vanilla ice cream were still in them. She still never brought silverware. I ate my stale crepes with a spoon and gave my uncle the fork and knife from someone's leftover roll up. She seemed upset the whole time. Everything was a disaster. we were the...
Read moreMy family and I visited IHOP after the Fourth of July eventâitâs our go-to spot after a night out. We come here often, and itâs usually a great experience. The food is always good, the service is friendly, and weâve even built relationships with some of the morning servers who go above and beyond.
However, this particular visit was disappointing. When we arrived, the restaurant was quietâonly four tables were seated, including ours. Our server, Jasmin, sat us and immediately told us, âIâm alone tonight, Iâm very tired, so I might take long to get things done.â We reassured her that we werenât in a rush and asked for water for the table as we placed our food order.
Despite the light crowd, it took around 45 minutes for just two of the five plates to arrive. The water we requested never came, and throughout the night, Jasmin seemed overwhelmed and moved at a noticeably slow pace. When we asked for anything, it took a long time to receive itâif at allâand she addressed us in a passive-aggressive tone, almost as if we were an inconvenience. She repeatedly reminded us she was working alone, but with only three tables to serve, it felt more like a lack of preparation or training than being short-staffed.
As someone with over three years of experience in food service, I understand how tough it can beâbut I also know how important it is to make guests feel welcome, not guilty or ignored. To top it off, when Jasmin handed me the QR code for the review, she asked me to âonly write nice things,â and that I could mention she was aloneâbut to keep it positive. That didnât sit right with me.
Again, the food was greatâhot, fresh, and just what we expected. But IHOP should really consider offering better support or training for their night shift staff. One server can absolutely handle a small restaurant if theyâre properly equipped, trained, and committed to delivering the level of service...
Read moreOne of my pet peeves is when a waitress doesn't write down patrons orders. You can think your memory is flawless but believe me when I say we can all make mistakes, even patrons. If you record everything you have something to fall back on if contested. This waitress didn't make the effort to write anything down so of course the order was wrong, the food was not as ordered neither as good as it could be and when asking the waitress for additional items she would forget them or bring them one at a time and have to make numerous trips which is fine if the place were busy but it was a Friday morning it was practically dead. My wife ordered crepes and she brought her regular pancakes PLUS when she did bring the crepes she hung it over my plate without saying a word! Zero personality and no manners whatsoever. Not once did she ask how our meal was or if we needed anything else. We had to keep calling her over to us. I drew the line when she took the maple syrup off another un-bused table and the ketchup without cleaning them first. I instantly thought omg what else does she cut corners on? Come on guys we are in a covid world. Put on those thinking caps otherwise why try or even wear masks in the first place? It's sad, IHOP is a great place to eat but unfortunately the employees set the tone here and so far it fell flat. I hope to give this place a second chance in the future as the food is always good and I work nearby but I will avoid this particular waitress like the plague....
