Don’t let the strip center fool you, this is an amazing new restaurant! I believe they told us it’s only been open about 2.5 months. It’s beautiful inside with great food & service! My husband found this restaurant as his treat for hanging with me all day at fall High Point furniture market. I’m glad he did! We loved it so much, we went two nights in a row! Complimentary, thin and crispy crackers are immediately brought to your table with a beautifully presented trio of sauces/dips. Very tasty and light enough to take the edge off without overdoing it before you start your meal. I first tried the Chicken Tandoori. It was very tender and delicious. I did not realize, though, that it was bone-in, and all dark meat. It was served with a generous portion of rice and sauce. I love that you can tailor the heat of dishes to your liking. I tried a heat level of 2 on this dish to get a feel for this place. I had flavor, but really no heat which was quite fine with me that night. We ordered a side of naan, and it was recommended by our server to choose garlic. It is cooked fresh and was delicious. Just be prepared for it to have a lot of chopped garlic on it. So don’t order this if you’re on a date! 🤣 The second night was chilly and we both ordered the Masala Chai Tea with milk. It is served without sweetener which is our preference. It was just spiced enough and was very smooth. I loved it, and would order again. For my entree, I selected Chicken Vindaloo with a heat level of 4, which turned out to be perfect for me. Enough of a kick, but not so spicy that I couldn’t enjoy the dish. This was served in a pretty copper bowl with handles. The chicken was in chunks, very tender and served with lots of sauce, great for dipping. We selected naan with fresh basil. This was great for dipping! I absolutely loved my meal, and would definitely order this again! I spotted Bread Pudding on the menu, and I always break down for this dessert. It was served with a pink drizzle on top which made me wonder what that was made from. After one bite, it was not the decadent dish I was looking for. I hate to waste food, so I tried to eat it, but had to stop. I love a good Bread Pudding. This was not it. If you’re a connoisseur, make a hard pass. This was the only negative I had of either night. The Rice Pudding is the restaurant’s specialty and it had nice flavor. A good finish to our dinner. This place was a win in our book, and we...
Read moreHoused in the former Lulu & Blu location, the recently-opened Curry ‘n Spice is, so far, very nice. The menu is appreciably huge, offering not only the greatest hits (breads, kababs, curries, etc.) but also a few dishes with Southern Indian, Indo-Chinese, Nepalese, and Afghani roots. Alas, there are no thalis, but there are plenty of options to satisfy vegetarians and meat-eaters alike.
Sometimes, variety comes at the expense of quality, but not so here. The kitchen put out consistently good food, and they will match your desired spice level. Vegetable samosas were fragrant and larger than those you might find elsewhere. A lamb rogan josh boasted tender meat and a spice-forward sauce. I’ve encountered versions of this dish where the heat overwhelmed the flavors, but Curry ‘n Spice’s rendition let the cardamom through. Even the rice (soft basmati with very long grains) was above par. One of our favorites ended up being an item we received by mistake (they let us keep it and still brought what we ordered): cheese naan. It was addictively chewy, cheesy, and buttery on its own and also worked well to mop up sauces.
Service at Curry ‘n Spice was attentive: the owner (we think) stopped by to make sure we were enjoying everything. As with the building’s previous tenant, the interior is classy and comfortable. Admittedly, the Latin jazz in the background seemed incongruous for an Indian restaurant, but that’s a very small nit to pick. For the amount and quality of the food, pricing proved pretty reasonable.
High Point has other Indian eateries capable of putting out tasty food, but consistency can be hit-or-miss. For Curry ‘n Spice to be firing on all cylinders early on is, hopefully, a sign of more delicious...
Read moreGreat delicious Indian food ! Very welcoming and helpful the moment you walk in , the inside of the restaurant is very classy and nice. Beautiful glass wine room as you walk in, they have a Bar available and outdoor seating as well . Our waiter was very helpful on describing the food choices and very helpful and welcoming. We visited around lunch time and it was not crowded at all so we enjoyed having the patio to ourselves. You have try the chicken masala it has very delicious spices and flavorful sauce paired with the rice and the bread . They use a lot of spices in there food so if your not used to that this place may not be it for you . We loved the fact they have a spicy level , if your used to eating hot and spicy you can handle there hot level . The sauces they serve with the lentil chip from the beginning is very flavorful. Overall we had a great time and great food ,I will say it is pricey to eat here lunch and dinner but food definitely worth it . Bathrooms and overall restaurant very clean. Parking is not a problem , plenty of space and if your a vegetarian this would be great option to enjoy because they have several dishes that are veggie . I would definitely come back to try a different dish . The only reason I’m giving it a 4 star is because my husband dint like the shrimp in his meal , the shrimp was not cooked properly to him and he found a few of the shrimp tails in his masala soup . But my dish and experience was great so I encourage you to check this new place out...
