Rixster Grill is your standard-issue neighborhood sports bar, but it’s a pretty solid representation thereof. The abundance of TVs make it a comfortable spot to take in a game while filling up on apps/wings/burgers/sandwiches until the final whistle.

My wife and I stopped in for lunch on a Saturday and found the place mostly empty. Annette, the lone server, proved friendly and welcoming. We started with fried mushrooms (no bargain at $7.25) and went with a black & blue burger (a better deal at $8.95 with a side included) and a firebird sandwich ($8.50 and ditto) respectively. The food came out hot with very little wait. I can’t speak to busier times, but service during our visit was impressively efficient.

The food, on the other hand, was decidedly uneven. The mushrooms were battered nicely, but they were begging for a more flavorful beer batter. The burger, requested medium, was served well-done and was very, very salty. On the other hand, the sides were money: mixed vegetables were surprisingly fresh and flavorful while waffle fries were perfectly crispy. The firebird (hot sauce-coated fried chicken breast topped with ham, provolone, lettuce, tomato, and ranch on a Kaiser bun) was not easy to eat – make sure you have plenty of napkins – but it delivered on flavor.

All told, Rixster is worth a visit for a quick bite or a gameday meetup, but it the food is too inconsistent to make it a regular...

Where to start? My husband and I come here quite frequently throughout the year. We go more frequently during college football games. On this particular day 9/9/2023 we arrived at 2 in the afternoon. We talked w/ the bartender Cody one of our favorites. He knows us and we have great conversation. Our 2 college games on this day came on at 330. We called some other friends to join us and they joined us to watch the games. We have MSU on one TV and U OF M on another TV. After half time U OF M game was no longer on the TV. The North Carolina game was playing on all the tvs except a few. Including the one the U OF M game was previously playing. When asked why the channel was changed we were ignored and not given an answer. I have never felt so unwelcome. When we finally got an answer we were told too bad, we have to play to the majority. All of the tvs were playing 1 team. With so much diversity with so many people from other states you choose to air only 1 game and that is it. Rixster has l9st our business. We left and went to another business. And guess what? All of their tvs had multiple games playing from all different colleges. They now have...

There was 3 of us here having a great time on st patties day, food wasn’t that good, they never put cheese on the shepherds pie, burger was well done, they charged by buddies card and was taking cash from our other friend basically stealing our money. They cut me off after my third beer after a hour in between, but didn’t say anything to us until after taking my bosses cash, and this gentleman to my left. Not sure if they were upset everyone around us was having a great time or if they don’t like out of towners. They never offered me a water or anything but said I was over served and accepted cash without serving. The owner and the son went back and forth on who saw me “stumble” to smoke a cig, meanwhile lady next to us spilt her stool and her beer all over the guy to my right, she was well over served so it didn’t make any sense to why I was singled out. The stories of Wisconsinites are world wide, 3 beers to me I’m still under a .04. Roadys tavern is 10x as much fun as this place, don’t waste your money here. We took our cash tip back and gave a 0 dollar tip like they deserve. No fun...

We were there at lunch and it wasn't crowded. But beware the night before (Wednesday) was music bingo and it was packed. So we left. Lunch was excellent. The beef tips were marinated Sirlion chunks seared a little bit sweet like Teriyki with two sides. I got broccoli and greens beans. The beans were delicious and still a little firm. Broccoli was perfectly cooked and dipped in a bit of ranch was perfection. My husband got the Carolina burger with chili and slaw. It was large and cheesey and he said the best burger he has had in a long time. His hot chips were yummy as i made him share a few. When we left he was still talking about how great the chili was on the burger. Our server was quick and very sweet. We will definitely be back.
