Me and my wife traveled down to High Point a few weeks back, and always like to try local pizza when we travel. We had to go with Sir Pizza, because most of the city of High Point shuts down at 9. So Sir Pizza gets a little credit for being open.
On to the food, we got a large pepperoni pizza. I can say with great certainty, and will not change my opinion until proven wrong, that the pizza was a store bought frozen pizza that was reheated in an oven. Also I don't mean a name brand frozen pizza or even a grocery store brand. I believe that it was dollar store brand frozen pizza. You can imagine the quality of ingredients you have to use to make a large pizza and be able to sell it for a dollar. It was greasy like the hair of that weird kid in high school that everybody kept one eye on because you weren't sure if he was plotting something or if he just didn't know the importance of a daily shower. We were starving so we still powered down two slices each. Also to their credit, the price was really decent especially since pizza places have been steady raising on the prices. Unfortunately they kept prices low with cheap inferior "food" products.
This was not the end of the story though. The next 20 hours were tortuous. My stomach churned like there was a tornado inside my body. I had no comfort at all, because when I wasn't sitting still trying not cry and beg for death, my guts were spilling out like a broken drippy Slurpee machine. I was in the bathroom until about 4 in the morning, and was able to sleep for a little while before my butt decided to reclaim war on the toilet. We tried to go out during the day on Saturday, but all of our trips had to planned around whether or not the place had customer bathrooms. By the way 20 hours is not a random time either we ate at 9:30, and at 5:30 the next day everything was perfect. Like the pizza had some kind of timer in my system of how much it was allowed to poison me.
So long story short, I do not...
Read moreThe pizza was not good at all. We rarely get the chance to go to Sir Pizza, but we always look forward to going there because of the square pizza that no one else has. This was not the first time that the pizza was not good. However, since we have had good pizza and good service in the past, we gave it another shot. That was a huge mistake! We ordered a medium ground beef pizza, a medium half pepperoni ,half cheese for our family of 4, and my in-laws ordered a small Hawaiian pizza with one salad bar trip. When the half pepperoni, half cheese pizza arrived at our table, it looked like it a bucket of grease had been poured on it. And it was not even cut up hardly at all. The ground beef pizza we got wasn't really cut up either. We brought it to the attention of the waitress about the grease on the pepperoni and cheese, and she just said, " Oh yeah, I see that. " No apology was made or offer to make it right, remake the pizza or anything. She didn't even notice until she saw my husband trying to soak up the grease as best as he could with napkins. She did have the half pepperoni ,half cheese recut better, but that was the only thing that was done. When my husband went to pay, he made sure to tell the people in the kitchen area behind the checkout about the grease of the half pepperoni ,half cheese pizza. They wee the owners, I do believe. And all they said was, " Nothing we can do about the grease , that happens quite a bit with pepperoni and cheese pizza. Pepperoni is greasy, and cheese is too. " So, needless to say, I guess we will not go back to this Sir Pizza...
Read moreI have loved Sir Pizza since I was in elementary school, many, many, many years ago. I worked at both High Point locations while I was in college and when I first graduated.
The thing is, lately the pizza and the whole experience has not been quite the same. The pizza is sometimes extremely greasy, and the delivery experience has become increasingly expensive. The last time I called to place a delivery order, the person who took my order advised that there was a $5 delivery fee. I asked her if that went to the driver and she reluctantly said it did, so I did not tip. I don't know if that was the right thing to do or not, but a $5 delivery fee is high, and it feels like just another way for this merchant to make money off of me, off of the consumer. They also charge you if you want to use a credit card. They essentially pass what the card companies charge them for processing charges onto the consumer. The price should not change based on how you pay. They are pricing themselves out of the market for me, at the same time that the quality is not always the best. I hope they get it figured out. They do not need to give people a reason to do delivery elsewhere, as that is a very big part of their business. Since I pay for the annual door pass with DoorDash, I could order from any other pizza place in the city on DoorDash and not pay a fee at all, and they do not charge me for using a credit card. I think that in trying to improve their profits and help themselves stay in business, small businesses are sticking it to the consumer. I'm not sure that's going to work out...
