Food below average and small amount for pricing. Bland flavors.
Arrived and was told it would be a 20min wait. Waited 40 min to be seated. Then waited 40 min more after being seated and was asked if 2 more people could join. Waited another 45 min while watching 2 new people catch up with their ordering and eating salad/soup before cook showed up to commence with cooking.
With such a delay is it fair to be automatically charged 20% when waited over 2hrs just for cooking to start?
It makes no sense to charge 20% for larger parties at these places ..... as they prep for large number of people per cooking table/session and it makes no difference if its 1 or 9 people at a table because they setup and will merge small groups into larger groups. So you can't say it takes more timing and organizing for larger parties, when each table is forced to sit with large groups! All this is a money grab!
Food below average and small amount for pricing. Steak was overcooked and plated wrong, and cook had asked if okay to remove from one plate to another.....what if we said no???
Knowing the timing and delays, the restaurant should not have even asked if two new customers could sit down, especially knowing the open spaces were at the back end of the table with limited space. As there was not enough space under table we Injured knees when moving chairs inward to allow 2 new customers get around our chairs to sit down.
Response from server(shortened added()) via email: First, adding the two people did not delay the time for your chef to come out [....]. Secondly, gratuity is added for parties of 6 or more as a protection for myself, not because of extra planning / organization. Thirdly, as for spacing and [......(injury)....] sorry to hear [.....] I will let management know so that we can improve our seating. so if #1 true, the time being seated would be 1.5hours of waiting at seat? No hibachi place has ever taken that long once seated. If that was the case, they should have clearly told us wait time will be 45min and show starting 90min after that! Waiter should have also informed when asking the wait will not be impacted.
#2 "protection"? Never heard of that. Its always been expalined around organization and timing of food for all party at same time. Waiter clearly saying I need to protect my income and average 20% in tips across 6+ people to make my job worth it, irrelevant if good service and good food!
#3 they know spacing, they know seating arrangements. They should have told us exactly where to sit so they can have the extras in front so no one has to move around....
Read moreOn Sunday, January 12, 2016, my family and I dined in your restaurant. Sadly, this was the second time our experience as a family has been awful. It seems when a couple goes in to dine, as my parents often do, the service is fine, but when a large party comes in to dine the party size is too large to deal with (we were a party of 9). What makes matters worse is that I called to speak with a manager on Monday and I am still waiting to hear back from them. The server on the phone was condescending and shifted blame for the lack of service because we ordered the $25 all you can eat special. The total bill was over $325 and I would like to state that multiple members of our party did not order excessively but actually quite modestly (my niece only eats chicken and rice and we still happily paid the $25 cover as the rules state). First, if the staff or the restaurant does not want to cater to people who order this special for their own reasons then such special should not be offered. The complaint we have is not about the price but for the lack of service including not taking people’s beverage orders (people in my family drink alcohol), un-timely appetizer order, food was served cold and over cooked and when my brother arrived he was not greeted for over 15 minutes. When I sent back my over cooked tuna the server looked at me like I was crazy. I ordered some steak instead, which took an extremely long time to come out and was again over cooked.
My family was celebrating my graduation and we wanted to have a nice dinner. The time we spent with one another was nice, but the service was lacking and repeating a similar experience we had last year. We will not be returning to your restaurant. To anyone reading this, there is a new Hibachi grill which just opened by the Kroger next to Lantana. I would suggest giving them your business, as Mt Fuji seems to be unappreciative to patrons. As a person who has worked in multiple restaurants and has bartended I say shame on you. Shame on your staff for trying to make my family feel the lack of good food and service was because we ordered off of a special the restaurant offers but the staff is...
Read moreWhen I first walked in, there were no customers or employees to be seen. It appears they do not have a host. The manager or owner, a man in a suit, was on the phone at the bar and aggressively waved his hand towards some employees on the other side of the restaurant. One older woman and a young man with glasses peeked around the corner, just staring at him, until the woman nudged the male to come take us to a table. He approached reluctantly, didn’t say a word, placed menus down, and quickly walked away without any greeting or introduction. It was an odd first impression, but okay, I was hoping things would improve.
Our actual server was great, though, very friendly and attentive, so no complaints there. However, the food was a huge letdown. I ordered the chicken and steak hibachi, and both were super chewy with no flavor to speak of. In the words of Gordon Ramsay, it was “bland.” For a place that looked to be a higher-end restaurant based on its decor and entrance, I was expecting so much more.
The hibachi salad had very watered-down dressing, which was surprising and kind of off-putting. I’ve never seen anything like it at a Japanese restaurant before, it was more like a soup of dressing than a proper salad. The mushroom soup was decent, but as someone who isn’t huge on soup, I can’t offer much more than that. I also got a Thai tea boba, which ended up tasting like chocolate milk, definitely not what I was expecting. On top of that, the boba wasn’t the usual tapioca balls but instead crystal balls that were harder and more jello-like. So, if you’re a fan of traditional boba, this might not be for you.
Overall, the meal cost about $35-40 per person, which felt way overpriced for what we got. The food didn’t seem to have any authentic Japanese flavor or culture behind it, and based on the staff’s interactions, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was all being cooked by someone without much knowledge of Japanese cuisine. Very disappointing, and I won’t...
