We had passed by this restaurant several times on our way to others and finally decided to drop in. It was an early dinner, so no crowd. Server was right up to us with a friendly greeting. First of all, the beer selection here is huge and creative, but also has all of the standbys. I described my taste and asked for a local recommendation. She offered a couple of choices plus samples if I wanted. I was confident in my selection so took no samples. For our meal we started with the giant pretzel with white queso & spicy brown mustard. Both of those were excellent and the pretzel itself outstanding. It was large by usual standards and had a crunchier outside than I expected. Highly recommend it as a starter. For mains I had the avocado burger, which was excellent and I could only eat half, so remainder the next day warmed up for lunch. Good fries as well. My wife had a Baja chicken flatbread that had just the right level of kick. She also had enough for lunch the next day. Beer bars are pretty much a dime a dozen throughout the metroplex. The Brass Tap seems to be a step above most. I imagine it gets crowded because it is small, especially on days with bad weather that might close...
Read moreI recently visited a local bar for Tuesday Trivia night and let me tell you, it wasn't the best experience I've had. I expected it to be crowded, but what I didn't expect was the lack of accommodation from the staff.
When we arrived, we found a four-top table and added a fifth chair to sit at. However, the server immediately informed us that this was a fire hazard and suggested we sit outside instead. The problem with this was that it was cold and miserable outside, and we couldn't even hear the trivia questions.
To make matters worse, we weren't even able to ask a four-top sitting at a six-top table to switch with us. It seemed like no one was willing to budge and the staff wasn't doing much to help us out.
Ultimately, we decided to leave and go somewhere else. We weren't there for the food anyways, so it didn't make sense to stay somewhere we weren't comfortable. As we were leaving, a table big enough for us was clearing out, but at that point, we were over the whole situation.
If you're planning on going to this bar for trivia night, just be aware that they give you multiple choice to pick from. As for me, I'll be taking my trivia-loving...
Read moreI don't leave many reviews because most people just like to complain. I'm not sure how to use the Star Rating so I'm leaving a 3 Star for "average". Meaning I probably won't be back. I visited Brass Tab HV last Saturday night and sat at the bar. My first visit. I'm a HV local and had been wanting to check it out. My experience was average. The food & restaurant design were great. Being a sales manager I always personally strive and demand from my team that they provide an excellent customer experience. In my mind the customer experience was everything (at best). My experience was far something to make me want to come back. I wasn't greeted with a hello or even eye contact. I had to ask to get a drink. I had to ask if I could order food. I wasn't asked if I wanted a second drink until after I waited & waited and already decided to move on to Shoal Creek. It was prime time Saturday night and bar seats & tables were maybe 40% filled. On a Saturday night? That place should packed. Maybe other locals feel like me and haven't been Wow'd by this place. Maybe I just expect to much. Its sad because I would like to make BT HV a...
