Debating between 2* and 3*. Review for lunch buffet.
The good: Place was clean and nice looking.
Wide variety on the buffet, several things I see only rarely at Indian places, and some I'd never seen before.
They had chai and (sweet) lassi included.
Quite a bit for both vegetarian and meat eaters.
Nice big plates. Handy bowls.
The ok: Flavor was ok on everything, but with only a couple of exceptions nothing reached "very good". We eat a fair amount of Indian and this (flavor wise) would be "if we lived 2 doors down we'd eat there a couple of times a year." We'd probably drive into Portland for tasty Indian most of the time.
Staff was decent. Not very communicative... Maybe a language thing.
They had labels on things, but some of them didn't exactly line up with stuff so a little guess work was involved.
The hours (until 2:30) are ok on the buffet, but they might want to do a "last call" 10+ minutes before they yank it. We'd read reviews about how fast it disappeared so we had no problems, but if we hadn't been prepared it would've been a problem.
The bad: I don't usually deduct for digestive issues because I've got problems that make eating out a gamble... But my spouse has a great digestive system, not one place out of a hundred even gets noticed... It's now 7 hours after we finished and we both feel like we ate a rock. I'm actually hungry, but I still feel uncomfortably "full". Not the worst problem I've had (not even close) but neither of us have the slightest interest of going back.
Just to be clear: Neither of us ate more than we've eaten at other places. The vegetarian is having the same reaction as the meat eater. Everything else today was normal.
Bottom line: If we didn't have problems with digesting the food we might've tried them again but only after we'd tried other places...
Read moreTwo things I absolutely hate about this place....first, they will make you order your food at the counter, take it back to the table, and clean up trashes after dining etc., just like a fast food shop, and yet, quite shamelessly ask for a tip! If you choose not to tip (which to me makes perfect sense because nobody is serving like you would expect at a restaurant where they expect tipping), then they will give you a look..huh! I usually tip around 18~20% when I dine at a restaurant, and at first I even tipped them, but later it did not make sense anymore. Second, and this happened last night...the smell! My wife and I went there to dine in at the evening. The entire place was filled with very strong onion smell, so instead of eating there we had to take out our order. But for the ten minutes we waited inside for the food to get ready, was simply awful, and now my new leather jacket that I bought just a couple weeks ago, smells like onion. Same thing happened with my wife's coat. I don't know how long it will stay. Anyway, I know it sounds like a bizarre experience of dining at a restaurant, but it did happen. The problem with that place, as I observed, is that there's no real door between the kitchen and the dining area, which could prevent the strong cooking smell to devour the entire place. Needs someone in the management to notice! I actually told this to the lady at the counter, but that clearly offended her, which wasn't my intention. All that said, the food...
Read moreRe-entering my comment, To whoever manages this place! We were in Hillsboro on 9/3 to celebrate a frens bridal shower and ordered food from this place! But found the service, employees and food disgusting for following reasons! Upon getting here to pick up our food, We were told our food bill of total $160 should be ALL CASH and if we were to use card there is additional 10% charge! We were getting late for the event and my husband said it’s a okay let’s pay with card since we usually tip for pick up as well! And the atm nearby would have charged us anyways! BIG SCAM! Upon reaching my friends house, they (locals) told us that this place takes cc and they have bought food worth even $10 using CC.
How UNETHICAL and SHAMELESS!
The samosa green chutney had gone sour, and we had it within an hour of getting the venue! The tamarind chutney was missing! Instead they packed a bowl full of tomato ketchup! We were not only furious but disgusted by this type of service! Our guests were taken aback too! The mushroom curry barely had any mushrooms and tasted like it’s dipped in sugar! IF Shamelessly deceiving another brown people makes you feel better, then lord bless your dark heart for ruining our event! There was a woman at the counter and two dark guys who treated us unfairly! We will not be calling our CC to make a refund charge, it’s a CHARITY to you perhaps you needed it but you people out there be aware before coming...
