Einstein Bros. Bagels — Restaurant in Hillsboro

3 stars because I have always found the bagels to be fresh and overall it’s a good place for bagels! The staff is good as well.

-2 stars because I have had multiple bad experiences here.

Sometimes there is too much cream cheese on the bagel, sometimes too little.

When you ask for something that’s not standard, someone says we can’t do this and another person comes in and says yes we can.

We once asked for a coupon to be applied at the payment counter and we were told the coupon cannot be applied even though the order met the terms and conditions. We were told that we will have to make another purchase to apply the coupon. But then another lady was able to apply the coupon. Lady at the ordering register said the coupon will be applied at the payment register and the payment register said you need to provide the coupon code at the ordering register.

Gave me the impression that either the staff isn’t well trained on the system or the system itself is complicated or has bugs due to which the staff has has to choose workarounds.

Today, the lady called for my name but the order was someone else’s. I usually eat at the shop but this time I chose to go home and found out it wasn’t my bagel sandwich as it had bacon on it which I don’t eat.

This can be avoided by simply putting the person’s name on the packet or by simply confirming the name before handing the packet rather than leaving it on the counter for someone to pick up.

So I had to return to the shop to get the bagel I had ordered. The staff was kind enough to remake my bagel sandwich but they messed it up too. I had asked for the bagel to be double toasted but it was burnt ish.

I understand mistakes can happen but getting a burnt bagel in the name of double toasted has happened multiple times.

Being a bagel shop and unable to get the bagel right...

This shop is usually okay. Not today. Their service was rushed and borderline rude, but sometimes things get like that. We took out bagels outside to eat in the sunny weather. Afterwards, when we went to throw away the trash, I noticed that the outside trashcan was (extremely) overflowing. So instead of adding to the mess, I tried to do the nice thing and go notify the staff.

After waiting for a few minutes, and having staff walk back and forth without even so much as an acknowledgement. Finally, a lady stopped, looked at me and said, "YEAH!?". Which completely caught me off guard. So I said, "I was just outside and your trash is badly overflowing." She then replied, "OK...AND...!?", spinning her hand as to indicate for me to go on. I said, "And I thought you would want to know maybe?" She rolled her eyes and said, "OK!" She then walked over to the register. I asked one of her co-workers what the name of the lady was that was rude to me, pointing at the lady on the register, the other staff told me her name was, "Jackie", I said thank you and started to walk away, and then I heard Jackie ask the other staff member, "What was his problem?!?!".

Jackie is RUDE and needs some additional training. Likely, I will NOT...

This is going to be our one year pretty soon for us to get bagels at all the time to this specific Einstein location! We have a solid reason to keep coming back because all the employees are friendly and provide excellent customer service including the lady manager!! She did well to have a great people as her employees to make all customers happy, well done. Yes nothing is perfect, happened 2-3 not prep right or the employees lacking but Not a big deal… happened 1 time incident, the manager right the way took care of it!! Other than that normally they always nailed it. With all of this time almost a year we are going to them, we rate them “excellent Einstein Bros Bagels place.” Great manager is the best example for the employees, keep it up the phenomenal teams under your management and make your customers...
