I love Pho N.D.
My family has been visiting this location for years and every trip is always a delight. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, and accommodating of specific food requests as necessary (my husband is a chronic picky eater).
If you're looking for a hearty meal, their selection of Pho is fantastic and the Pad Thai is top notch. Looking for something a little brighter and lighter? Their Vermicelli bowls are my personal favorite! And I could make a meal of their salad rolls, which are the best in town by a mile in my opinion. Actually, to be honest, I have made a meal of them... on more than one occassion. ;)
Every table comes with a selection of sauces, some of which are practically a fire hazard as spicy as they get! If you're like me and can't handle the heat, rest assured, the spicy stuff is optional.
I would suggest eating at the restaurant, which I have always found to be clean, quiet, and relaxing (or bursting at the seams if you catch the lunch rush). But they are always happy to get something together for take-out.
Price-wise, this place is very reasonable (I would say 3 out of 5 on the expense scale). They aren't cheap but the ingredients and recipes are worth every penny. Parking is plentiful and they're located right off Cornell. Just take care in the parking lot, there can be some gnarly pot holes depending on the time of year.
Overall, Pho ND is my favorite Pho...
Read moreSuper hesitant to leave a bad review because their food and customer service has been great every time I have gone. However, people need to be aware that they are serving very raw meat without telling people.
I don't know if this is common or if it was just this once but I ordered take out tonight (as I have done many times) and some of the meat was COMPLETELY raw and very cold to the touch like it had just come out of the fridge. This was not obvious because it was hidden inside the other food items and I only noticed it because I spread everything out before adding the broth this time. It was raw and bloody.
I called the restaurant to let them know my food was raw and their response was that they know and I'm supposed to cook it when I get home. I was NEVER told this (I expected my take out to be pre cooked) and I happen to be very pregnant and susceptible to food born illness. Had I even just tasted the broth prior to cooking the meat, it could have been very bad.
I was never told that they were serving raw meat and wouldn't have known if I hadn't spread it all out prior to adding the broth. I don't mind cooking it but the fact that they didn't even tell me has me...
Read moreMy adult son and I ate at DB's Kitchen for the first time last night. This wife and husband owned and run restaurant is a gem of friendly and attentive service, generosity, and amazing food.
Adriene took our order and answered every question we had about the menu. She recommended (and made) the watermelon smoothie, which was surprisingly delicious and refreshing on a 100 degree day.
We were the only dine-in customers, but watched as several people came in to place orders to go. Every customer who came in was seated at a table in the air-conditioned restaurant and served a glass of ice water without cost.
My son ordered the tripe soup with vermicelli noodles, and I had vermicelli noodles with grilled chicken, pork, and shrimp. The portions were huge, perfectly cooked, pleasantly presented, and spiced with amazing balance.
In the past we've driven over an hour to Salem to eat great Vietnamese food. Now we've discovered it 10...
