I've had this bookmarked since it opened, but tonight was our first visit.
We shared the baba ghanoush and hummus 'salads' and a kofta kabab platter. We decided to save the signature falafel for a future visit.
The baba was wonderfully smoky and garlicky, and the hummus was smooth and well flavored. Oddly (just because the dining tables are kinda dressy), both were served in large takeaway containers ... handy as there was plenty to take home! Freshly-baked and addictive soft bread (thicker than your normal store-bought pita) was provided for dipping. And then we were surprised by a order of home-made chips as well ... these were made extra tasty with some added spice.
We almost forgot to leave room for the kofta kebab platter. The kabab was served on a bed of flavorful rice pilaf and covered with the delicious spicy tahini. A garden salad (with a raspberry!) and a wonderful tomato salad (this had the BEST dressing) were the sides. Next time we’ll take them up on the offer of extra sauce for the meat and rice – that was amazing! Nice kick without being overwhelming.
The whole experience was very pleasant, and we have leftovers for tomorrow. Falafel House will be on our normal rotation of favorite...
Read moreUpdate: I was working from home so my friend decided to surprise me for lunch. We decided to go here and the place is so cute. I loved all the decor, I could not stop looking at everything. The lovely lady at the register told me they sell the wall art and I was like wow supporting small businesses. I did not buy anything though. For lunch my friend for the Chicken Shawarma Platter and I got the Chicken Shawarma Sandwich. We decided to eat in for change of scene. I only ate half the sandwich, but took the rest home. I am glad I gave them another chance. I will be going back.
2021: First let me start of by saying we are pleasantly shocked by the price and amount ratio. When I pulled them up my boyfriend is like whoa this has to be an error in pricing. I got the lamb platter he got the beef gyro platter. When it got here we were surprised by the amount of food. I couldn't even finish mine. The only reason it is not 5stars because the spicy hummus wasn't spicy. Glad...
Read moreI want to be respectful in this review and as honest as possible. Unfortunately, I found the food to be overpriced and unenjoyable. A simple dish, such as shawarma or kebab, ended up costing nearly as much as a complete meal at an upscale restaurant in New York or Philadelphia. While I don’t believe high prices need to be limited to big cities, I do think the food should match the value being charged.
In this case, the meal I ordered did not live up to the hype. The flavors were underwhelming, and the meat in particular was not well-prepared. For the price point, I expected much higher quality and better taste.
The atmosphere is artsy and has a peaceful vibe, with a small crowd. The staff weren’t quite as warm as some reviews suggested, but they weren’t rude either. I genuinely wish the restaurant success, but I hope they reconsider both their pricing and food quality to better align with the experience they...
