The best aspect of our dining experience was the bartender / server. The accolades end there. Don't waste your money on this place.
My wife and I both ordered the fish & chips. It was two, small pieces of fish that was dreadfully overcooked in what must have been last season's fryer oil. It was not drained when dumped in the parchment-lined plastic basket and, thus, drowned in its own grease. All this for $22... each. If you like fish & chips, you'll do better at Captain D's.
It’s not just an issue of poor quality in the kitchen, it's also a lack of attention to detail. My daughter ordered the kids' menu spaghetti, and specifically asked for no sauce. She also ordered a meatball on the side. It seems the kitchen ”cooks" the meatballs in red sauce, but instead of relaying that the the table via the server, or maybe making the call to simply rinse the sauce off of the meatball, the cook just slopped a meatball onto the pasta with a ladle full of sauce. To the server's credit, she apologized and swapped it out without complaint.
The atmosphere needs improvement as well. The restaurant is upstairs, and there is no elevator. The two AC units (mini splits it appeared) were not up to the task of cooling the dining room. This resulted the the server breaking an obvious sweat. Not at all her fault, but it looked like she was squeezing in a few reps at the gym between visiting her tables. This poor atmosphere did nothing to overcome the incorrect orders and cheap, college-bar level of food.

Read moreEvery time I’m in Hilton Head, I have to stop by the Lobster Bar near Coligny Beach. It’s one of those places that becomes a tradition after your first visit. I’ve probably ordered their lobster roll a dozen times by now—and it’s perfect every single time.
The lobster is always fresh, tender, and full of flavor. They don’t drown it in mayo or overdo it with extra stuff—it’s simple, classic, and just really well done. The bun is toasted just right, buttery on the outside, soft on the inside, and holds up nicely without getting soggy. Whether you like it warm with butter or chilled with a light dressing, they nail it.
The vibe here is super relaxed, which fits perfectly with the beachy surroundings. You can roll in after a day in the sun, grab a seat on the patio, and enjoy a great meal without any fuss. The staff is always friendly and on top of things. It’s one of those places where you instantly feel welcome.
If you’re anywhere near Coligny and craving seafood—especially a lobster roll—this is the place. I keep coming back, and it’s always one of the highlights of my trip. Honestly, I don’t even look at the menu anymore. I just sit down and say, “One lobster...
Read moreI came here with a group of 8 (family friends with 3 little ones). It was difficult to find the location, because we didn't know it was on the second level and there were no noticeable signs outside. We became skeptical when we walked in and realized there were no other customers in the restaurant; but because we didn't want to wait any longer with hungry little kids, we decided to take a seat.
The menu is very simple with lobster being their staple. I tried The Lobster Bar Classic Roll and it was pretty yummy, but it definitely didn't live up to the hefty price of $38 MP. I think offering better quality sides would make up for the price - like other seafood dishes, rather than just potatoes (chips/fries) 🥔
It would also be a good idea to provide menus with photos or have easily accessible QR codes to see online menus. The images I saw on the website would encourage customers to make decisions easier. Had I seen the photos, I think I would have instantly gone for the Cobb Salad instead of a Roll.
All in all, it was a good experience thanks to our very patient waitress. I probably would not come back or recommend it unless the restaurant made significant...
