Yesterday, we had the worst experience at IHOP for our son's 6th birthday. It was our first time at this location, and we were excited to start his special day with a celebratory breakfast. The night before, I had seen their cool "IF" themed pancakes and thought it would be perfect. We arrived and were seated immediately as a party of seven (four adults and three kids).
Once seated, it took 15 minutes for a server to even acknowledge us. When she finally came, we placed our drink orders. Our birthday boy was excited to try the drink with the popsicle inside and ordered the blue pancakes with eggs on the side. The server assured us this was no problem.
However, 45 minutes went by with no drinks. When they finally arrived almost an hour later, only two drinks (orange juice) came. Another 15 minutes passed before the rest of the drinks arrived, and they still forgot two waters. To top it off, the birthday boy's drink came with PAPER from the popsicle box inside it.
During this whole time, no food arrived. At the hour and a half mark, food started trickling out, but every meal was missing something—bacon, eggs, you name it. They even forgot to bring an entire burger meal. And, they brought the blue pancakes with eggs on the same plate, despite our request otherwise.
After another 20-30 minutes of back and forth, trying to correct the pancake order, it was still wrong. The worst part was hearing my sweet, grateful son express his disappointment, saying, "Aww, everything is going wrong on my birthday with my birthday surprise." I deeply regret taking him there for pancakes.
The manager offered a discount, but we still had to pay $52, which feels like a waste considering we had to spend more money getting food elsewhere. We left two hours later, and I never received the water I had asked for. An apology is not enough when things go this wrong. While I understand good service isn't guaranteed, there's no excuse for waiting almost an hour for water and missing entire food items. We cannot take back my son's birthday breakfast, and this experience was utterly...
Read moreMy wife and Irecently visited the IHOP in Hinesville, GA, on a weekday, hoping for a relaxing and enjoyable meal, but unfortunately, my experience fell far short of expectations. When we arrived, the restaurant was nearly empty, with only four tables occupied, so we expected fairly quick service. However, we ended up waiting close to an hour for our food to arrive, which was extremely frustrating given how few customers were there. I understand that sometimes delays happen, but there didn’t seem to be a valid reason for such a long wait with so few diners.
When the food finally arrived, it was a letdown. Most of the dishes we ordered were bland and lacked any real flavor, which was surprising coming from a place like IHOP. The one exception was the crepes—they were flavorful and definitely the highlight of the meal. However, the rest of the food didn’t even come close to meeting the standard we expected.
To make matters worse, I had ordered avocado with my meal, and what I received was practically inedible. It was not ripe at all, rock hard, and covered in black spots, which made it impossible to eat. It felt like the kitchen either didn’t care or didn’t check the quality of what they were serving. Avocado is usually such a simple, fresh ingredient, so this was particularly disappointing.
One of the few positives of our visit was our waitress. She was genuinely friendly, attentive, and provided great customer service despite the issues with the food. It was clear that the poor food quality and the long wait times were completely out of her control, and I appreciated her professionalism and positive attitude throughout our meal.
All in all, while the service from our waitress was great, the overall experience left much to be desired. Between the hour-long wait, the bland food (with the exception of the crepes), and the inedible avocado, I can’t say I’ll be returning anytime soon. IHOP has the potential to offer much better, but based on this visit, I left feeling disappointed and underwhelmed at IHOP of...
Read moreWe came here Saturday morning around 10:45am because everywhere else in town had a long wait and IHOP had lots of open tables. I should have heeded that bad omen, because what followed was probably the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. It took about 15 minutes for our server to come take a drink order. Then we waited another 20 minutes for our drinks, 1 orange juice and 1 hot chocolate, to arrive. When the server finally came to take our order we started telling her what we wanted and she said "Oh hold on, I forgot the tablet" and slowly walked away to get the POS tablet. How in the world do you go to take an order without the one tool you need to actually take the order?? When she finally came back the server had absolutely no urgency, she wandered around aimlessly and spoke so slowly. Then we waited 45 minutes without seeing our server at all. My mom got up to ask what was taking so long and she was told that our food was in the window. Then another 10 minutes passed, my husband flagged our server down to ask about our food again and she gave him the same answer. So apparently our food sat ready under the heat lamps for at least 10 minutes without being delivered. When they finally brought the food out my eggs were dark yellow on top from sitting so long under the heat lamps, and the hollindaise on my mom's eggs had soaked in from sitting so long. On top of that, several things were missing from our order. We had finished the rest of our meal before they brought us our missing items. In total we were there for over 2 hours, during which time we watched many other tables be ignored, get up, and leave. The GM ended up comping our meal because we had so much to complain about. I do feel bad for him, he really seems to care about the place and he tried to make everything right for us, but his entire staff from FOH to BAH is frankly incompetent. He'd be wise to fire the whole staff, shut down, and only reopen once he's found staff who can actually...
