Philly Steak & Lemonade — Restaurant in Hobart Township

They lost a long time, repeat customer tonight. I will say that I've never had problems here, before tonight.

For starters, we placed a large order, and were given a ninety minute delivery time. Until tonight, the food has been worth the wait, and the price. After three hours, we had been told, multiple times, that our food was "on the way out the door right now," still had not received our food, and they had stopped answering our calls from the phone that the order was placed from. I was starting to become very upset, since I had already paid by card. The very first ring, of the very first call, made from a different line was answered immediately. The young man who took this call, offered to pay for our next order, but could not refund this one. When the food did arrive, the sandwiches were dry and overcooked, and some of the drinks were wrong.

Long delivery time, over cooked food, or getting diet cola instead of regular, or even the combination of these, is no reason to give up on an otherwise excellent restaurant. Blatantly lying to customers, especially when they've paid up front, is why I will not be ordering from this establishment again, even if it is a free meal.

UPDATE:

Tonight, I called to speak with a manager, to discuss a refund. The man that I spoke with (I believe he was the owner), was extremely rude and condescending. When I tried to recount what had happened, he began interrupting, and talking over me, making excuses. When I told him that I had been lied to about the delivery being sent out, he replied that I had been speaking to the owner's son, who "would never lie," and called me a liar! He refused a refund, after admitting to the unacceptable delivery time. He offered to make my next meal free, but stated that since the delivery, which was paid for by card upon ordering, was accepted, then I had "no right to ask for a refund!"

I just called them to order a pick up at 8:20pm and they told me they close at 8:45 (Even though they post 9pm online and at the store) and only taking orders in person at the counter. Since I only lived a minute down the street from them, I drove over to make the order. I get there (8:24pm) the front door was locked and when I call them, while standing outside their store window, and literally watched them ignored the call(no one in the store but the two employees). After the 4th call, they finally decided to answer but didn't saying anything. I actually had to talk first and explain to the man that I just talked with him over the phone and was standing right outside. He acted like he didn't know the front door was locked and let me in. I told him the situation and that I decided I was not going to order any food from them if this was how they run their business. Considering it was going to be my first time trying their food, I told the man that if this is the way they run their business and treat customers, I would be too afraid to even consider eating anything they had to offer. I also told him I would never go back to their business and that I was going next door to order food, that also closed at 9. I've been ordering take out from here for years and today, they really earned a review. I tend to find things on the menu I like and stick with them, and if it's in their name I gotta try it. Their Philly cheese steak sandwiches are my go to and their lemonades are sweet and sour. I think that out of the 50-100 cheese steaks I've had from there, I can count on one hand how many times it's been a little bit off. It's consistently good. Today, I tried out their super cheesesteak sandwich, and on my way home, I couldn't get over how huge it looked sitting ontop of the box that the normal sandwich comes in with fries. Now I don't know if its normally this big, because it was my first time trying it; but when I threw it on my food scale (counting calories and portioning), it was a whopping 1000grams, or 2.2 lbs!
