Hubby and I went to Dear Maud for Happy Hour drinks on Friday around 5:30p/6p, so we went straight to the bar. The restaurant design was beautiful and open! It’s one of the more newer and higher end feel restaurants in the area. The bar layout is almost oval with plentyyy of seats. The bar stools were comfy and underneath there are hooks for your bag and even outlets to charge your phone! My phone was dying so that alone received bonus points from me!
Our bartender Francisco was amazing! We told him it was our first time there and he walked us down the menu and gave his recommendations, which we appreciated. For drinks, we actually didn’t order any specials 🤦🏾♀️. I started with the Margarita Picante and then the Dear Maud. I’m not a two ingredient drink gal — I like my cocktails WELL-CRAFTED and oh yes, he delivered 😗🤌✨🍸! The Margarita Picante was the perfect blend of sweet and spicy and will be my new go-to! The Dear Maud was slightly sweet, had a nice smoky flavor, and hit stronger. The buzz came on after that one for sure. Haha. Hubby also ordered 2 different ones but I can’t remember the names. Well crafted too! His first tasted refreshing and was packed with flavor. I didn’t taste his second.
We also ordered food. I got the fried chicken sandwich and hubby got the steak sandwich. Both came with fries. We also ordered the brussel sprouts, which were amazing. I thought the fries were delicious and crisp like a McDonald’s fry, which I loved because at many other places, the fries feel like a soggy afterthought. The chicken sandwich was double stacked and well presented but I do wish it had more seasoning. My husband didn’t say anything about his food (he’s not really one to review) but he devoured it and was full, which days a lot. I may try the steak sandwich next time.
The whole time Francisco was super attentive, checking to make sure everything was good and swiftly fulfilled our requests! Even the ice water was bottomless!
The bathrooms smelled nice and had black toilets. My only con here is the stalls are super tight to get into because the door opens too close to the toilet. (I do not want my leg grazing anybody’s toilet 😅)— I’m not a big girl either.
All in all, we were impressed and will certainly be back! Dear Maud has officially been added to our exclusive shortlist of favs in NYC /Jersey....

Inspired by his owner’s Irish roots, Dear Maud invokes the Irish poet W. B. Yeats, being a contemporary American with subtle hints of Irish and Asian cuisine.
Upon arrival as first-timers outside of the Washington Avenue establishments, my partner, our friend, and I were greeted by the host, who led us to an earth-toned leather booth in back of the bar between the two cozy and casual dining areas with various shades of sage green everywhere one looks.
Their menu offered brunch with a full bar capability for handcrafted cocktails. We decided on the Breakfast Burrito, Steak & eggs, and Avocado Toast.
