It was my first time in Hoboken and we went to The Ferryman for a couple drinks. It was a Friday night and w| got there like around 12am, the atmosphere was really nice tho. Everyone was having a great time and their drinks were cheap compared to the other bars near by. We have tons of fun . Also the music was really good. I remember they were playing old Hip-Hop music

Bar and bar food, the place wasn't too bad for drinks, but the food i need to admit was awful .... I ordered the fish and chips and the batter they used was horrid, the fish scant and i was mostly eating fried batter ... I provided a second star due to the great service from the local waitress that evening ... so the lesson here is, get drinks but eat elsewhere ...

Sadly the picture doesn’t do it justice, but it was good. I certainly think it’s not bad for being a bar and not a restaurant. So not a restaurant, not a fast food, I would say somewhere in the middle. Overall, a nice place to hang out, have some drinks and munch on something.

Yikes. We stopped by this Irish pub on July 4th, 2025 around 11pm for some drinks and a fun time. Although our drinks were good, we cannot look away from the cold "service" we received from beginning to end. It was an uncomfortable experience and I'm not going to keep quiet about it. Unfortunately, I didn't get any names, but I wish I did.

Upon walking in, we seated ourselves at the very end of the bar. The bartender (a woman) who took our orders and made our drinks showed disdain for us. Why? Well, we're still trying to figure that out. We were polite and friendly during every interaction. Not once were we disrespectful, rude, or rowdy. Riddle me this...

She barely made eye contact with us. No smiles, no warmth. Very standoffish. Very brief with her words. She acted like we were a bother... like she was doing us a favor. She and the other two bartenders (also women) did not check in on us or interact with us at all. In fact, they were barely at our end of the bar. We had to get their attention every time. It should not be that way... it should be the other way around. They all treated us in the same standoffish manner.

We don't ask for servers to be up our a$$es every second... but what we do ask for is to be treated with basic respect and to at least feel welcomed. Bare minimum, isn't it?

We thought that maybe they were having a bad day... but NAH. During the hour and a half we spent there, I observed the women interact with other customers at the bar. They were smiling, laughing, conversing, and being attentive to them. In fact, the bartender who made our drinks came from behind the bar to talk to customers seated next to us. I also observed her smoking and interacting with more customers outside.

We couldn't even get a simple "you're welcome" out of her... LOL. When she handed us our drinks, of course we warmly said "thank you". No response or acknowledgement. A second later, she hands another customer their drink, they thank her, and she warmly says "you're welcome" to them. This might sound like a petty detail, but when you're being treated in a cold manner, these little things matter.

When we received our bill, we still tipped 20%. In reality, they didn't deserve one. But I suppose being the bigger person can't hurt sometimes... :-)

Girl... we didn't have to be here. There isn't a shortage of Irish pubs in the Hoboken area. First...

Thumbs down..👎..read on...I wish I could give no stars...I usually refrain myself from giving 0 stars...but this was a pathetic experience!!! Hope this is an eye opener for all...

!! Keep your self respect and go to a place where they value you !!

You lost a good customer..not that you would care, would ya???

I visited there today with my German colleagues and to have them experience a great time in this particular spot. This was my go to spot for a long time...To my surprise and horror (maybe Halloween time) it was the worst experience ever and I looked like a fool in front of my colleagues. So basically we had to show IDs and me being a localite showed my NJ Id, 2 of my German colleagues had their German IDs, one of them (a lady) didn't have a physical ID to show but she did show her passport on the phone. "So to speak" bartender/ acting manager didn't acknowledge that and was very reluctant in letting us stay and said that without a physical ID, the lady couldn't get in...I mean seriously...im bringing guests to your establishment to show them a good time and this is how you treat visitors from another country??? I was super pissed and tried to reason with the so called bartender whatever, but he didn't budge...anyways..horrible experience...I used to frequent this place for many years and this is what you have to offer...Very Sad...I hope the owner reads this and educates his staff or yet fires that imbecile...

I went to Ferryman on 7/23 and ask for them to honor what was advertised 3 days ago on Saturday 7/20. Their advertisement says if this is your birthday week and you can show proof to your server then you are entitled to a free bottle of champagne or a free fishbowl drink. Since my birthday is on 7/24 I went there specifically as I thought this was a very nice gesture for this establishment to provide to its customers........only to find out they will not honor what they advertised. After waiting more than 15 minutes for the server to find out if this can be honored or not, I was told it was for birthdays that happened 7 days prior to 7/23. I said my birthday is 7/24, which is still considered “The birthday week”and was told it cannot be honored. I argued that the advertisement said for “your birthday week” however the server said nope can’t and won’t honor it, even after checking with “management”. I am DISAPPOINTED to say the least. Shame on you Ferryman for FALSE ADVERTISEMENT! And shame on you for deleting my review on...
