I went to Little City books for the second time ever today, and I think this was truly the worst experience I've ever had at a bookstore. The staff was super inattentive, from the moment I walked in to when I was checking out (I only purchased something as I had to get a last minute gift). I always thought of this store as supportive of BIPOC and marginalized groups, but the books whose covers were front facing were predominantly by white, racist, male authors. Not to mention the Harry Potter display and a staff pick being American Dirt. As an independent bookstore, I would hope there would be more of an effort to promote BIPOC and marginalized voices and less focus on harmful authors and books. Not sure if this is simply ignorance, but as a bookstore, it is their responsibility to do their due diligence in researching the authors...

I gave them a vague description of what I was looking for "I want a feel good fiction, but not a romance, neither fantasy". They looked at me for a second, and brought a few options. LCB is a quaint local book shop not far from the PATH and waterfront & they have an impressive selection for the size of the store.
