Amazing place. Best donuts ever. I was visiting a friend of mine in the area and went for a walk to get some local food in Holland and found this cute little donut shop. As I came in I was struck by the kindness of the amazing man that worked there, greeting me and offering a hot cocoa. The right wall caught my eye with a a drawing and quote from the first owner. I asked the cashier about it and soon we found ourselves entrenched in a conversation. Being so amused by all of this however, I accidentally ordered only 2 donuts instead of 3. I left content, without noticing, and gave the bag to my friends, only to not get it back. I was surprised and asked them about it. They said there were only two donuts, and they’d only had one each. I thought maybe there was a mistake, so I returned and asked as politely as I could as to not offend in any way someone who had been so kind to me. He checked and I’d actually only ordered 2, however he gave me the donut for free for my trouble. One of my friends came with me and ordered more because those donuts were extremely good and only cost about one dollar each. I would have bought a dozen just for my self, but, well, I shouldn’t. Read moreI had some high expectations for this donut shop. I was thinking they would have those fancy fun donuts you see on social media….i was wrong. The donuts were the pretty standard variety you can get at any bakery. It’s $1.50 for one, or $9 for six, or $18 for a dozen….there is no incentive to buy more because the donut will still cost $1.50. The donuts aren’t labeled at all, the worker said they are constantly moving trays around so they can’t label them…why don’t you just put a label at the end of the tray? The taste of the donuts I tried were very basic, nothing fancy to them. The best thing about this place is there location but in my opinion if you’re craving something sweet just head another sweet shop downtown…...
Read moreEvery time I’m in it feels like they’re half open. The staff doesn’t greet you and there is no warmth to the space. There is only one coffee option (they don’t even have real half and half) and the donut case is always half full. Screens are never on and the lighting is so sterile. Donuts are just ok, try deboer bakery if you’re in the area visiting.
There was so much potential for this space, especially to benefit the folks who live downtown on this end of 8th street....
