7+ years as a customer, don't listen to those "one-and-done" types. Let me provide you with an actual account from someone that has frequented this establishment more times than they can count. For all those that smear this place... it's a shame really, considering that they all seem to have had one bad experience and subsequently write this place off. Too bad for them. Before I go on a rant, i think it only fair to provide you with my credentials. I am not a critic. However, I have frequented more sushi establishments than i can remember. From the amazing to the "dear God what did I just eat?". Growing up in the suburbs of NYC, plus my trips to the west coast afforded me that luxury. Kobe is a very basic, no-frills, hibachi/sushi establishment. Its not a trendy place at all, so if that is what you come to expect then, no, this is not the place for you. Their rolls are not glamorous. They are very simple and focus on the fish and not the copious amounts of garnish that end up masking it at those hipster-style places. No quality sushi restaurant/chef caters to all that nonsense. True foodies should know and appreciate that. The portions are generous too. That is if you order actual sushi, and not the rolls. Same holds true for the sashimi platters. I have yet to get a piece of questionable fish here. As for the service, the staff (minus the kitchen) is composed of primarily, if not all, high schoolers, with a fairly regular turn-over, so don't be surprised by the lack of "quality service". I have had both excellent service, and horrible service.. something that can occur at any eating establishment. Don't be so quick to judge, you'd be remissed if someone caught you on a bad day. All-in-all, over the past 7 years, more times than not I have had a very...
Read moreLet's start by saying the place was very clean. The waiter was conscientious. We were seated quickly and order was taken immediately. Apps chosen were goyza (sp) and edemame. The goyza was obviously from frozen but was good and the sauce was on the sweeter side. The edemame did not come out until after the meals were on the table. Sushi is the grade you would buy at a grocery store or an all you can eat sushi eatery. They do not have bogo roles. My two teenagers ordered teriyaki beef. The beef was chewy. The fried rice was just white rice with egg in it. For my family of four to each have an entree and a drink in addition to 2 apps it came to 85.00 before tip. I can go to many places that are much nicer and have way better food for that price. I was disappointed by the food before the bill came. When I saw how much they charge for the disappointment, I realized there are too many places to choose from to ever need to come back to this one too spend hard earned money....
Read moreI was hoping for a better overall experience since Kobe comes with a reputation for quality food and atmosphere from where I am from. Unfortunately m, their soda machine was broken so they only had water and tea available. Also, they were out of filet for lunch so I settled on the strip steak instead along with chicken. The food was bland, rice was barely cooked and lacked flavor and there was hardly any sauce at all on my meat and vegetables. I asked for some warm teriyaki sauce for my flavorless rice and was given a small cup that was barely room temperature. The waiter was a nice polite young man who did his job well. Only one other customer was in there when I arrived and only one other came in after. It was relatively quiet besides the TV which was on a...
