While the food was decent, the prices were shockingly high, and the portions were not particularly generous.
A simple polenta with sour cream and feta cheese was just shy of $19—polenta! That was quite a surprise. Similarly, four mititei with fries cost nearly $18, which seemed excessive.
I ordered a $13 bowl of tripe soup and requested extra vinegar and garlic. To my surprise, I was given a tiny portion of garlic paste in oil, the size of it was about the size of my thumb nail, along with two bread buns I never asked for, a small container of sour cream (which I also didn’t request, as the soup was already greasy), and about 6-7 thin slices of pickled hot pepper. I assumed these standard accompaniments were included in the price, but instead, I was charged an extra $1 for the thumbnail sized garlic paste, $1 for the small portion of hot pepper, $1 for the sour cream, and $1.50 for the bread. This turned my already pricey bowl of soup into an $18 dish!
The $1 charge for a thumbnail-sized garlic paste portion was particularly disappointing and i honestly can’t get over it as I have never seen a portion as small as that!
To add to this, I ordered an Amandina cake listed at $5.90 on the menu, only to find I was charged $6.99 on the receipt—an unexplained price increase.
Finally, my total bill came to $97, yet I was charged $101 when paying by credit card, something I was not informed of in advance. The server never mentioned this extra fee, which felt deceptive.
All of these issues combined have left me with no desire to return. As a customer, I strongly dislike hidden charges and unexpected costs.
A final note—if you’re considering buying the Sibiu Salami, I’d advise against it. It tasted nothing like the real Sibiu Salami from home and had an unpleasant, greasy, almost rancid flavor. I paid $15 for a small roll, only to throw it away. Honestly, you’re better off buying Italian dry salami from Publix.
This was my experience, and for $101, that was the last visit they’ll...
Read moreWhat an incredible experience! The food at this Romanian restaurant was outstanding — I had the beef goulash, served with fresh bread, and finished off with a delicious dessert (I wish I could remember the name!). Everything was full of flavor and clearly made with care.
The atmosphere was just as impressive — cozy, inviting, and with the most comfortable sofas I’ve ever sat on at a restaurant. The music added the perfect touch to the ambience.
But what really stood out was the service. The owner personally brought out some Romanian salami for me to try, and the young man working there not only made great recommendations, but also took the time to tell me more about Romanian culture and cuisine.
I felt so welcomed and appreciated — I’ll definitely be...
