It's an overall a good and confortable enviorment, but only two small details, on July 2 at 3:45 p.m one of the girls (tan-skinned with black hair) always puts her phone/videos (possibly watching soap operas/novelas) on loud volume without headphones when its not busy, and its very uncomfortable, this is suppposd to be a cafeteria with a relaxed enviorment, where customers can quietly enjoy their drinks or meals, and not have to be forcibly subjected to hear any loud music or any video contents an employee there wants to watch. I understand that maybe this employee isn't beimg rude on purpose, most likely doesn't even realize this, but the manager/owner, or the person in charge should take note and please let the lady know not to put on any loud music or content from her phone for the sake of the customer, because after all, these ladies have a job there because of the customers, and even when it isn't busy at all, they are still at work, not on own their personal time in their living room or room for them to be watching videos on their phones and putting it on loud volume, disrupting any customer there. Another thing too is the A/C....it looks like this same employee also turns off the A/C....this is about the comfort of the customer, not of the employee lady, and she had the A/C off the whole time I was there as well. With this humid and hot weather, customers should also find a respite of fresh air when they come in to purchase a meal. So bottomline, no A/C and putting on loud volume video content from her phone is going to hurt this buisness, so if the owner really cares about the buisness, please address those two issues, because the buisness thrives and those ladies have jobs there because of...
Read more3/5/25–I woke up and said, “Thank you, Jesus, for another day.” Then, I checked my personal itinerary and noticed that my first Pilates class wasn’t until 11:30 AM. That meant one thing—I had to postpone my brunch a little later. Tragic.
To kill some time (and justify the empanadas I was about to encounter), I jumped rope 100 times. Just as I was catching my breath, my husband showed up. “Can we go to a nice coffee shop just to sit there?” I asked, as if that wasn’t the whole point of coffee shops. After some Googling, I found a Cuban café nearby. Well, nearby by car. Walking? A solid 30-minute trek.
Anyway, we drove there and parked on a side street. My first mission: checking for outdoor seating. Success. As I walked in, the café welcomed me with its charming wooden tables, colorful pictures on the walls, and a display of empanadas practically shouting, “Eat me!” Oh, I wanted to—but Pilates on a full stomach? Not a great idea.
The place was small but cozy, with a mix of Cuban and Colombian treats. They had stovetop espresso makers in different sizes and colors (including a cute blue one), and they served Colombian coffee alongside Cuban classics. Arepas, buñuelos—you name it. I ordered my coffee, took a sip, and let out a satisfied sigh. This. This is exactly what I was looking for. And now here I...
Read moreLet me begin with the parking situation - it's limited, so you'll have to find street parking. The cafe, while charming, is on the smaller side. Upon entering, we received a minimal greeting from an elderly man (uncertain if he's the owner), which was the first red flag. Notably, he had a red nose and a broken arm, making me uneasy about his involvement in food preparation. Additionally, I observed him handling ham without gloves, and to my surprise, he transitioned to operating the register with the same unwashed hands!
To add to the discomfort, I spotted him in the back corner using a handkerchief to blow his nose. When I requested a to-go box, there was no mention of handwashing.
Unfortunately, this experience leaves me with no intention of returning. Basic standards of cleanliness and a welcoming atmosphere should be a given in the...
