We got there about 630 at night during the week, and had to wait only about 20 minutes which was nothing so we shop next-door and then we were seated. Initially our server came right to the table 2x in a row within three minutes of being seated to get a drink order but we had just sat.
She then told us she was brand new first day which we appreciated and understood.
So the food was delicious and the bartender is really cool and friendly to all patrons this is the best part. The downside - We were a party of three, & we ordered our food, We waited over 1 hour to get shrimp and fries basket, & 2 burgers burgers and no apps. During that hour we never saw our server at all. Not for a water, not for drink refills which we had wine and beer, not for anything. Finally we saw her running through the dining room and we literally flagged her down and she said the kitchen was behind and then we asked her why the table that was seated after us with a larger party was eating and she didn’t have an explanation. We never saw her again. Someone else delivered the meal to the table, did not offer us refills, water, more alcohol simply sort of the meals in left. Our server never came back,to the point that during our meal or glasses were empty and we literally got up and went to the bar ourselves and asked for water so we could have something to drink. Totally ridiculous. A table was seated next to us, and they brought their food from the bar, with a different couple. They sat there for 20 minutes and never had a server and another server jokingly said “oh did she finally find you?” She appeared and apologized they dealt with it too.
The party of five that walked in after us, had a larger party, and the same foods from what we saw, was seated, served and checked on by their server and then left before us.
We think it was a manager was who dropped our bill off at the table, and then when we were ready to pay the server finally came back to the table and we paid and left.
While the beer battered shrimp was a delicious, and the hamburgers were good, the service was awful for our table and not what we were expecting. More drinks, even just a hello from the server and a quick check in would’ve been great but none of that happened. Maybe the mangers should check in the newbies tables just in case something like this was happening as it was the first day ??? We understand she was new but also know that there is a level of customer service that was not met. Basically she could’ve come back and asked us if we would like second drinks while we were waiting for our food, or if we needed drinks with our meal but none of that was what happened and therefore this was a disappointing experience.
Doubt we would return, But suggest sitting at the bar because the bartender definitely had his...
Read moreHurricane Hanks – Where Your Taste Buds Go on Spring Break
Walking into Hurricane Hanks is like finding a Florida man who’s mastered both culinary arts and hospitality—wild, slightly saucy, and 100% satisfying.
Let’s start with the Hurricane Wings. I don’t know who Hank is, but if he’s in charge of the wing sauce decisions, this man deserves a statue. These things are tossed like they just graduated from flavor university. Hot, medium, BBQ, garlic parm—you can practically hear them whisper “you’re welcome” as they land on your table with that side of blue cheese dressing that could double as a face mask in an emergency.
Now, if you don’t order the Island Crab Cakes, you may want to reevaluate your life choices. These blue crab beauties drizzled in Cajun remoulade are so good they’ll have you singing Jimmy Buffett ballads while questioning why you ever trusted frozen appetizers.
And the Ahi Tuna Stacker? Stacked like your friend who still goes to the gym in January. Sashimi grade tuna with guacamole and a Sriracha aioli? I cried. My taste buds held a gratitude ceremony. Throw in some wonton crisps and suddenly you’re dining like a coastal millionaire.
Let’s not overlook the fried artichokes, which I thought were just fancy vegetables until these Parmesan-dusted bad boys showed up and made me rethink everything I knew about snacking.
The Pub Shrimp came in like they owned the place—perfectly golden and dipped in cocktail sauce that slapped in the best way possible. The Beer Battered Baskets are dipped in Guinness, which means they're legally Irish and emotionally comforting.
Even the salads come in swinging—there’s one with burrata and candied walnuts that tastes like a spa day for your soul. And the Kale Caesar is so good it made me forget it was kale.
As for desserts, I don’t know who looked at key lime pie and said, “let’s make it dangerous,” but bless them. That and the Chocolate Bomb are basically emotional support sugar.
Service? Impeccable. Everyone’s smiling like they just got off a yacht. And the menu? Huge. It’s like they handed a food-loving hurricane a clipboard and said, “Go wild.”
In summary: Hurricane Hanks is where calories go to be appreciated and happiness is deep-fried, dressed in aioli, and served with a wedge salad. 10/10 would let this storm...
Read morePros: -All of our meals were FANTASTIC! -Most of us had something different (ribs, shrimp, lobster mac&cheese, stuffed grouper, grilled cheese, chicken tenders, onion rings, fries, mashed potatoes, salads) & we loved the choices given. -Nancy, the adorably sweet hostess, was spectacular to us and was amazing with our children! -Nancy had a helpful solution to solve the restroom concerns. -The batter used on all the fried items we tried was the best we've ever had (chicken tenders, shrimp, onion rings). -The salads were really fresh, crispy, and the ranch dressing was so good (you ranch lovers know what I mean😉)!!
Cons (I'm being picky since this is an honest review): -The bathrooms were a concern (the men's was dirty & the women's was locked, not sure if this was all-the-time or only when we tried it 2-3 times). -Our drinks didn't get refilled very often; many were completely empty. -A few meals needed sides exchanged, which did take a bit of time (meals were finished when the new sides arrived). -We arrived after 8pm(closes @10pm), took a bit for the server to get drink orders started & after meals were ordered, 3 meals had to be changed since the restaurant was out of some items. -The lighting was a little low for us (it was dim-lighting where as, we all prefer brighter lights to see our food well & to avoid sleepiness while waiting & eating). -We were all finished with things boxed up (YAY, LEFTOVERS!) waiting a long time to see our server & get our bill. My family all exited while I waited to pay, then the server realized.
Overall, if you're looking for DELICIOUS food, this is the place to go!!! We don't expect perfection (hence the 5 star review) and we will be back, FOR SURE (but earlier in the...
