Was very excited to try this spot after living in the neighborhood for awhile and wanting to dine here for a few years. The setting is really nice. There’s very few restaurants/cafes that are so close to the beach and ocean that are more casual-dining like Barefoot. The atmosphere is quality- they have plenty of tables (lots of options) and shaded/cooler opportunities. It’s very convenient to have such a casual but aesthetic dining option when you’re still in your swimsuit from surfing OR if you just want all really good breakfast/lunch option when in the area with your family. The staff was SO friendly and kind. Very accommodating. I witnessed them interact with a really frustrating and needy customer in the most well-mannered, respectful, and considerate way. I really appreciate the added touch they demonstrate by having the big community water dispensers have fruit in them! I LOVE when establishments do this. It adds a bit of flavor to the water and just looks aesthetically pleasing. In this regard, I also appreciate when restaurants include the flower and pineapple slice on the plate, which Barefoot does as well! There actually was a problem with my order though- which is unfortunate because everything else about this was a nice experience. I ordered avocado toast- and they informed me beforehand that they were out of a few of the ingredients for this meal (which is fine but surprising it was like this for more than one ingredient). I also asked for a modification which didn’t happen when I picked up my order. Obviously none of these were a big deal, just frustrating that so many little things happened. My friend ordered an iced almond milk latte and the eggs benedict. Everything came out great with their order and they really enjoyed it. There is a Biki station five feet from the establishment which is very convenient. Tourists are likely walking from Waikiki, but if you are driving parking may be “problematic.” The closest parking is probably the meters along Kalakaua (which is very inexpensive, but just hard to get a spot sometimes). Free parking is usually available at the parking lot(s) for Kapiolani...
Read moreI am not someone who leaves negative reviews but this place upset me so much I want to try to help other avoid it. First of all, the line was very long it took over 30 minutes to order the food. I understand it’s busy so there’s a wait, but just know the line does not move fast at all. I ordered a salad with steak and garlic fries on the side. My husband got the steak and shrimp and then we both got the pineapple smoothies. The total was $76 which is a lot for two people at a casual restaurant but whatever, it’s on the beach. Anyway after waiting over 30 mins my food was “ready”. They gave my salad and garlic fries but did not finish my husband’s meal for another 10-15 mins. The garlic fries were mushy and greasy. And they didn’t put the steak on my salad. Everyone except the girl that took my order had terrible customer service. They were all very rude when I tried to talk to them about my steak missing. The girl that took my order didn’t hear me say to add steak which is totally understandable, that happens. But after over an hour of waiting and almost $80 bill I was not happy. They let me know they’d make the steak. I waited another 25ish mins before getting the steak and they gave it to me in a to go container of course because they were way past closing. My husband asked for his steak medium well an it was very undercooked. We got there at 7:20 pm and didn’t leave till about 8:55-9pm. That’s when I got my food then had to carry it the mile and a half back to our hotel before I could finally eat around 9:30. If you like overpriced food, to not get what you wanted, and to be treated terribly this is the place for you! They have live music there which was very...
Read moreThis place had decent reviews so we thought we’d check it out for dinner one night. We got in line and couldn’t find a menu to save our life so we had to use pictures in our phones from other reviews. Turns out people don’t put them away so they are all stacked in front of the cashiers and no one that works there puts them “away” wherever that is suppose to be. We ordered a pork sandwich, a couple açaí bowls, a tuna poke bowl (or something not sure what it was called), two smoothies and a pineapple smoothies. This came to a grand total of $102. The pork sandwich plate and the açaí bowls were good. I’d give those 4-5 stars. The tuna and rice bowl was bland. It was like eating mush and plain rice, I’d give that 0 stars. The $7 smoothies I thought were a fair price until you get your 8 oz. cup. That was a ripoff. The pineapple in a smoothie for $15, got that just to say we did it once. It was a ripoff, but we expected that and did that on our own. The pineapple smoothie stuff inside was not cold. It was puréed pineapple. Not very good. I’ll give it a 1 star. My 16 oz Diet Coke was great and reasonably priced $3! Overall if that had cost $60 I’d think it was not a bad price but at $102 that was not great, but everything else is expensive here too. We had to clean our own table at the beginning and end. Someone wiped it down when the previous party left but they don’t clean very good because there was bird poop on the table. Also almost forgot the up charge for credit card. That’s just cost of business. That’s lame to pass it along to the customer. Based on your pricing for a smoothie you made up your credit card processing...
