Solid place to get your local Hawaiian and Filipino grindz. It’s a place hidden away from Waikiki and close proximity to Kapiolani Community College. Nothing fancy, it has a hole in the wall feel, Workers are friendly, and food is good. Local Hawaiian and Filipino Plate lunches, poke bowls, and snacks. Inflation sucks but this is Hawaii. The poke special is ~$30/lb, it’s high but it’s good. Mixed Plate 2choice combination plate lunches were $17.99 each. Add lechon and it’s $21.99. I got the Kalua Pig and Squid luau. No worries tourists, it’s not exactly squid, it’s actually octopus chopped small in luau leaves. But they call it squid luau. The Kalua pig was solid, moist, and flavorful. The squid luau was good too, more on the sweeter side. I also got another mixed plate of the pork adobo and sari sari. That was delicious as well. The spam Musubis were delicious. Chicken Musubi was ok.

While employed at the nearby armory, I've been a fan since the early 80s. Now that this place is under different management in 2020-2021, it offers the BEST POKI on the island for the serious connesuer (my favorites include the Hamachi with ginger/onion and Ahi with citrus tobiko). The fish is market priced and market fresh. Not the typical supermarket stuff with added preservatives to enhance color and prolong shelf life. Please go elsewhere if you are on a budget. The crispy pork lechon is also VERY GOOD. Make sure to ask for the house made vinegar dipping sauce. Also a go to is the turkey tail if you are into that. Check the daily specials for local favorites and other authentic style filipino dishes. Take out is available and the staff is mostly warm and friendly. A good selection of alcoholic beverages are located at the rear portion of the shop.

This is an absolute must to place on your VISIT REGULARLY list. The poke bowls are awesome; they use fresh fish. And whatever has been previously frozen, the sign will let you know. You can have lechon with your poke bowl! What??!! That’s what caught my eye to visit. And you must try their chicharron. It is the best I’ve had ever - comes in 3 sizes. I don’t why - large is the only one you should get! Service is so friendly. The team behind the counter prepping your order and in the kitchen are friendly and ready to answer your questions. Only 8 people customers allowed in the store due to COVID-19 regulations, but just wait patiently - it’ll be worth every bite! Support this local business. They are awesome in service and their meals!
