D J Barber Shop — Local services in Honolulu

I’ve come to Hawaii a lot and finding a quality and affordable barber has been difficult. I ran across this shop when I looked on Google Maps when I was staying on the east side of Honolulu. I called and they were able to accept me as a walk-in and just say at least I was blown away. Auntie Lisa took me in and saw me immediately. It made me really reassured trying a new Barber is that she repeated back what I wanted to ensure she understood. A lot of barbers don’t do that. Once she was sure she understood what I wanted. She went to town and it’s one of the fastest haircuts I’ve ever had but surprisingly one of the best haircuts as well. And when she was done, she asked me if I was satisfied! Auntie Lisa is an incredible woman and just hearing her story and how well she is respected in the community after cutting hair at this barbershop for 22 years is incredible. Might I add the price of the haircut here is almost unbelievable. I paid $17 with a credit card. I don’t recall the last time I ever got a haircut anywhere at this price that was good. PCS? Visiting on vacation? This barbershop is a no frills, fast, and great option to look sharp for whatever your needs. Aunty Lisa and Uncle are good at what they do. Their prices are REALLY AFFORDABLE for what the trade is charging these days, so be sure to tip well (as of Aug 2024, a standard men's cut - including skin fade - was $16). Not only are the prices good, but they do it fast and efficiently. I came here while temporarily staying in the Waikiki hotels and even though I've moved from the area, I still make it a point to go to that side of town for a cut.

Cash preferred, but they take credit card with added transaction fee. You can also call to make appointments, which is sometimes recommended as they're a hot commodity. First time in Honolulu or Hawaii for that matter but desperately needed a trim and my beard shaved. The owner came in super clutch today !!

Practically straight from the Airport to this area of Waikiki you will find this gem in the heart of one of the residential areas here. There was practically almost no wait. There was only one person ahead of me and he was about to finish.

She made me feel at ease right away and she has a great eye on what works with my hair type. Not to mention that she was super fast ! (Not that I was in a rush)

For being on an island the prices were very comparable to what you find on the East coast.

Don't look anywhere else if you are looking for an awesome haircut or beard trim💈
