Incredibly unprofessional and absolutely no customer service. I pre-ordered 2 dozen one rolls and 2 dozen regular Spanish rolls. I confirmed my order when I picked it up but when I got to my work gathering, there were 4 dozen of the regular rolls. I called the bakery and they initially they refused to acknowledge their mistake. They tried to convince me that we did have a conversation about the ube rolls and different price but I ended up passing and only ordering 2 dozen regular. When I told the manager Roland that the employee at pick up clearly had an order for 2 dozen ube and 2 dozen regular with a total of 4 dozen prepared and boxed, he still tried to tell me my order was for only 2 dozen regular. After a ridiculously long conversation, he finally admitted to his employee’s mistake but just said “sorry”. An honest customer looking for honest business and unfortunately Roland clearly does not believe in integrity. Avoid this place like the plague. I will post a review every day until they learn how to treat honest...
Read moreThis place is a blast from the past with bakery classics that I remember from when I was young. Filipino/Spanish and Portuguese style baked goods is something from Hawaii's plantation days that I associate with what a bakery should have. Modern bakeries today have such fancy items that they are more like dessert preparations versus actually baked goods and it so hard to find classic breads these days. The trendy Japanese or Chinese pastry shops that try to be European is now what those who don't know any better flock to for their pretty yet flavorless confections.
This place although not hard to get to is tucked away on a side street and very easy to miss with their barely noticeable building and signage. However, once you know where it is, you can get to it easily. They do have parking which is great because the area is very difficult for street parking.
Everything is fresh and the place is clean. Nice ladies work the place and they are pleasant to order from. Check them out for old school...
Read moreNanding's is a local institution. People have been coming to their stores since they were kids, particularly for their Spanish Rolls.
This is not the original location, but it's definitely a welcome addition to their list of locations since the other ones are on the other side of the island. This one is located next-door to Zippy's Kapahulu. There are a few parking stalls on the side of the building along with ample street parking if the stalls are full.
As I alluded to, my go to order is a couple dozen of the Spanish rolls. Every other time I get there, I have to wait around 5 to 10 minutes for the rolls, but I am not at all upset by this because it means that they're coming to me fresh and hot out of the oven.
Another thing to know is that everything here is extremely affordable . I can't remember a time that I walked out of here spending more than $20.
Definitely worth a stop if you're...
