UPDATED Hours: now open on Wednesdays and Fridays. If you’re on Oahu and in need of gluten-free baked goods, you’ll want to add this bakery to the very top of your list. You can buy all the breads and pastries to hold you over for your time on island. BUT **call ahead** first to ask what the latest hours of operation are because Google isn’t accurate. I was over the moon to find a gluten-free bakery on the island. Still, I wasn’t sure if it was a dedicated GF kitchen or a regular bakery (wheat) with a GF selection. To be clear, this is a dedicated GF kitchen and bakery. Everything is GF, with options for vegan or keto friendly muffins. I swung by to check it out and was pleasantly surprised to find a huge selection of goods. Susan (the owner) and Cooper were great! Cooper took the time to explain all the offerings to me—from the baked breads, rolls, sandwiches, teacakes, and pastries. I bought a little bit of everything and here’s what I found: amazing! The breads, sandwiches, and cakes were all delicious. Since discovering my gluten-intolerance, I haven’t had to worry about gaining weight from a bakery splurge. Because where is there a dedicated GF bakery? Time to worry again because the cinnamon rolls and teacakes alone will add five pounds to the waistline! When I travel, I find a gluten-free bakery, buy some bread, and take it around with me for the rest of the trip. I now do this with this bakery, though I live here. You can find this bakery on Saturdays at the Kaka’ako Farmers Market. If you arrive early, you’ll be able to bag a breakfast sandwich—and they sell out super quick. Edit: I’ve ordered two birthday cakes and have sampled everything this bakery offers. Everything is outstanding! Highly recommend!

We were so lucky to to have had Susan and Franceska provide our beautiful, delicious, and affordable wedding cake and cupcakes! We let Susan know our flavors and dietary preferences (vegan) before the tasting, and decided to go non-vegan for the wedding cake due to personal preference, but both options were delicious (and gluten-free of course). Susan had prepared many cupcakes of various flavor combinations for the tasting. As we chatted, it was clear how much she cares for and does for her surrounding community through her baking. Just a note - for the tasting, the cupcakes weren't necessarily aesthetic, but the final product was BEAUTIFUL! Franceska was very helpful answering all of my questions via text regarding price, cupcakes vs. cakes, delivery vs. pick-up, etc, and when I gave her creative liberty with the flowers, she did an amazing job! We ended up coordinating with Franceska to have a friend pick everything up for us and it all went smoothly. We were very grateful for Susan and Franceska's support!

A hole-in-the-wall gem!! Make sure to check the days open ASAP, as we almost missed getting to check them out. We hit them up right before we flew home, because we HAD to try the only GF bakery in Honolulu!! We’re so glad we did. Their selection is not huge, but the few things we did try were so yummy!! My hubby really enjoyed the fresh sandwich you see pictured. I had the peanut butter and jelly cookie which was SO DELICIOUS!! And the white puffy thing-I forgot what it was called, but that was quite decadent as well!! I wish we had had more time; we would have went at least one more time and tried a few more items. I highly recommend trying Pu’uwai Bakery for yourself!! If you eat a GF diet, you’ll be SO happy you did.

This gluten free bakery was what dreams are made of. If you’re looking for sage gluten free (and some vegan) options too, I recommend getting out of Waikiki and stocking up here on your visit to Hawaii when you can. I brought my gluten free family here, and we ended up purchasing a few days worth of snacks and bites here. Their famous Turkey sandwhich was freshly baked amongst other amazing treats we haven’t had the opportunity to enjoy for years like cinnamon scrolls. Highly, highly recommend. This might just be Hawaii’s best kept gluten free secret. And a bonus, the team informed us of the best gluten free spots in Waikiki, which made our restaurant bookings so much easier.

Are you gluten free and love cake and other baked goods? This is your spot. Small bakery in town with parking out front. At the time of this review they are open 8-1 Tu-Sat. They take cards, which is vital to know when you’ve found cake whether or not you’ll need cash. And how much! I tried the cinnamon cake, everything bagel, and lilikoi guava cake. Cinnamon cake was the standout. The others were delicious but the cinnamon cake. Wow. I don’t think I’ve ever had GF cake that delicious. I ate half of it before I remembered to take a photo. Update: visited again today and had savory items. It only gets better. Tried the vegan pizza rolls (yeah and cake, too). AMAZING.

If this was open every day, you bet I’d be stopping by every single day of my vacation. Everything we tried was amazing. My personal favorite was the pesto cheese roll. I wish we had gotten another one or two to go! Another highlight was the cinnamon roll. It had so much cinnamon filling packed in - just how I like it! They had samples and I really enjoyed the lilikoi cake. I’m regretting not buying a slice to go. It’s delicious. Go try it. This is the perfect place for people who can’t normally eat delicious baked goods because they’re gluten free! PS my gluten eating husband also loved everything!!!
