TL;DR - Great, Unique Burgers with a Price Tag I Can Get Behind. And yes, they are BIGGER burgers!
First time eating at Teddy’s but hopefully not the last! For my first time, I opted for the Double Kaneohe Combo with a Dr. Pepper. The Kaneohe comes with garlic, avocado, bacon, and cheddar IN ADDITION to the standard lettuce, tomato, onions, and Teddy’s Special Sauce.
Personally, my preference for burgers is a thinner patty that develops a nice crust, like a smash-style burger, which also tends to be smaller overall. While not a pub-style burger exactly, they aren’t kidding when they say that they’re bigger! These patties are so big that in fact, I would recommend going with a single patty over a double, especially as the toppings are really generous!
This burger was so big that I actually got the meat sweats, but it was worth every penny. While this is a pricy burger ($23.71 as of 8/30/2021), it is freshly made to order, as are the fries. I didn’t mind the 20 minute wait, particularly as the service was wonderfully welcoming and friendly, in addition to great quality food. I should also mention that with that higher price tag comes the fact that the chain is apparently employee owned, which I am always glad to support.
The bun was fluffy and on the sweeter side. It did end up losing some integrity due to the toppings and sauce, but overall it was very good. The onions seemed to be marinated to me, which in addition to the Teddy’s Special Sauce and the bun, added sweetness and crunch without much of the expected sharpness. The avocado could have been a little more ripe, which would have helped them stay inside the bun, but none of these factors took away from my enjoyment of the meal. The fries were golden and excellent, thicker than shoestring but not steak fries.
I have never had a burger like this. Do I recommend it? Yes! Emphatically! I would also suggest picking up extra napkins and perhaps asking for a couple more moist towelettes (included in the to-go bag) as this is a messy affair. I would also suggest eating this in an air conditioned environment to help soothe the previously mentioned meat sweats if you do opt for a double or triple patty.
All in all, I’m coming away from this meal feeling like it’s a good value for the amount of food, location, and that it’s...
Read moreI'm a huge fan of Teddy's and come often when I'm on Oahu. This location had delicious food (as expected) but the overall experience was wonderful. The customer service was very friendly and fast. My shake was in my hand before I left the counter! My food was brought to my table by a pleasant and helpful employee who made sure we were satisfied and brought us anything we needed. They were busy but didn't make me feel rushed or unwelcome at all. All my wants and needs were met here. Thanks everyone for a great evening!
Update: I’m so very disappointed in my most recent visit. It was the polar opposite of my previous experience. The restaurant wasn’t terribly busy, but I still felt rushed and as if I were inconveniencing the person taking my order. Having worked in food service in the past, I understand everyone has bad days, however he continually cut me off while I was asking questions and I suspected he was not listening intently to my questions and my order. This was confirmed as I saw my burger (which was unforgivably over cooked) was swimming in the bbq sauce I distinctly ordered my burger without. The shake was very thin, which was a shock to me. I’ve never had anything but a thick shake at a Teddy’s before. The box my burger came in had several traces of bbq sauce, ketchup and mustard all over it, so this also makes me question the hygiene standards at this location. I will not be returning. I will say this: the fries we cooked quite well and were tasty. Too bad I spent $27 to only enjoy the fries. Note: this was a to go order so I didn’t have the opportunity to have my burger and shake...

I visit Teddy's every time I visit Honolulu (3 - 4 times per year), actually I visit multiple times during my week-long stays. If you're really hungry, check out the Monster Double and choose your size of patties. I usually go with the 10oz patties cooked Medium Rare. Did I mention you can customize how you want the patties cooked? The patties are cooked to perfection based on preference and have excellent flavor.
Add-ons such as avocado, pastrami, mushrooms, etc. run a bit extra but are worth it if you're in the mood. The location offers a range of burger types, including chicken (I've never tried anything other than Monster Double).
The size of the burger is fantastic and the fries that accompany the meal are cooked and seasoned perfectly as well.
One note about the burgers - They're EXTREMELY messy depending on what you get. Take some time to grab a few extra napkins before they bring your order out to you (or before you leave if it's to go).
Apparently they do breakfast now, which I'll have to try on my next visit.
You can't go wrong with a stop at Teddy's. Keep in mind that it's only open until 9 PM, so no late night burgers when you can't sleep, unfortunately. You won't be...
