Oh my goodness what an unbelievable gem we found!!!! We actually were going to a restaurant across the street and it was closed and we are so rarely in Hood River we were so bummed out! Providentially, some passersby told us this was a plant-based restaurant- which is what we were looking for. I just cannot explain enough over how Gourmet and absolutely photo-worthy were the three menu items that my daughter and I got! They were so beautiful that I was hesitating to take the first bite but that didn't last long! We got two of the April specials : carrot "lox" and cream cheese on crusty bread that had fresh dill on top and capers! Oh my goodness just ambrosia! I also got something called Golden Jibarito. There was no bread but it was a sandwich that had a crispy plantain top and bottom crust with beautiful bib lettuce and a citrusy marinated soy curls with a pineapple pico de gallo & zesty sauce that was just indescribably delicious. My daughter got the "T Blat" that had thick crispy, on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside, tempeh and it was the most delicious tempeh I have ever had in my life. It was served on a homemade hoagie roll that is a housemade bread that was scrumptious. The kombucha by Blue Bus complimented my citrus flavored plantain sandwich wonderfully. I love kombucha and I think this one has become my new favorite. My daughter got an iced matcha latte with almond milk and she said it is the best matcha that she has ever had. You might think I'm using too many superlatives but I can't say enough about this glorious jewel of a restaurant right on Oak Street. The prices are reasonable for this quality of food. We were not too full to buy a pistachio roll that is made in house and every bite was heaven. Savanna, the owner, took our orders & served us, was so unbelievably friendly and we even met the chef who is an absolute artist for serving their Gourmet Delights. This is definitely my new favorite restaurant and I can't wait to come back again! What a blessing that first restaurant we were going to go to was closed today!! 5 Star...
Read moreGood heavens this was one of the best sandwiches of my life. I had the vegan BLT. It was delightfully smokey, but what really blew me away was the bread. It tasted like they had pulled it out of the oven seconds before making my sandwich with it. It was quite salty, which on the surface sounds like a complaint, but I mean it tasted like a fresh soft pretzel with bursts of perfect saltiness. It was so good I asked if they baked it there, and if I could buy a loaf. They said they did, but they didn't have enough to sell and also make sandwiches (fair). I also really liked the salt and pepper chips that came with the sandwich. I like my junk food sweet so I normally don't bother with chips but I found myself clearing my plate. Speaking of sweet, I bought a giant chocolate chip cookie to take home and it also...
Read moreOh my goodness, let me tell you about the most incredible cafe experience I've ever had! From the moment I walked in, I was blown away by the fantastic food, outstanding service, and perfect atmosphere. As a vegan, I'm always on the hunt for delicious plant-based options, and this cafe did not disappoint. Their sandwiches and pastries are out-of-this-world amazing - seriously, even better than any meat-based options I've ever tried. And don't even get me started on the raspberry cream cheese danish and blackberry danish - they're my new favorites! The people behind the counter were so friendly, helpful, and just downright nice. Overall, my experience was absolutely amazing and I highly recommend this cafe to anyone looking for a fantastic meal in a wonderful...
