First off, Iâm a busy person so if I review itâs because Iâm either very impressed or very unimpressed. This one is mainly the latter. I got to Hood River a little later in the evening after working later than expected. I was going to grab a pleasant dinner and head back to Portland as this was a pleasure outing but discovered that Hood River is one of those towns that rolls up the sidewalks at a certain hour. I live in a town like that so I get it. After walking into one establishment whoâs kitchen had âjust closedâ I was given a good recommendation for Whiskey Tango and assured they were still serving food. I bit and soon found myself seated at the bar but waiting some little time to be acknowledged. I ordered a drink and my food all at once(afraid the kitchen here would also close.) Got the food in very reasonable time and it was delicious but I sat unacknowledged for at least another 10 minutes after the bartender dropped it off and turned on her heel without saying anything. She had failed to deliver my beer and never turned her head in my direction in returning to my end of the bar several times. Iâm not saying she was lazy. She was working like a dog making fancy âmixologyâ cocktails one after the other. On the one hand I get that she was busy. On the other,as a dining patron of the establishment, along with a couple others receiving the same treatment, I was pretty irritated with the service to the degree I feel it worth mentioning. The food was amazing, especially the Korean bbq cauliflower. Just donât expect to get any of the staffâs attention to get any of it unless youâre standing in the fancy cocktail line. Overall, if youâre looking for a neat place and have excess time to invest in getting what you need, this one is cool. But if youâre tired and need to get back on the road, grab some bag trash out on the highway and avoid...
Read moreLast weekend, my date and I came to this bar during a short trip to Hood River. My date (a black man) had his mask partially on and was politely asked by the bartender to make sure it is on fully while away from our table at all times, and respectably he complied. Right after we ordered our drinks, we looked over and noticed a man(Caucasian) standing in the same spot we were, without a mask on at all. This man stood there for 3-5 minutes conversing with the bartender without a mask. As soon as my date saw this, he immediately blamed the color of his skin, and his sadness was evident throughout the rest of our time there. We chose not to say anything, and left as soon as we finished our first round of drinks. (We were prepared to get a few) Unfortunately this was the first bar we walked into during our trip and we found ourselves anxious walking into every other facility for the rest of our time in Hood River. I do not or at least hope that this was not the intention of the bartender, but I'm writing this in hopes that the bartenders are made aware that during such a sensitive time in our nation about this topic, even little differences in treatment such as our experience, can affect others more than they would ever know. I pray this review helps to avoid another person feeling the way my date did. We were really excited to check this place out because of the name, and unfortunately left very disappointed. SHOUTOUT TO THE SUBTERRANEAN restaurant for making us feel at home and helping us turn our moods around. Thank you...
Read moreDo NOT do business with whiskey tango, unless you want to ruin your wedding night. They are SCAMMERS and refuse to refund us for their incompetence and poor management.
We rented the upper balcony for our wedding after party. This was supposed to be exclusive just for our wedding guests. We paid and have the receipt for this reservation. When we got there, the balcony was not closed off to the public and had a sign hanging off to the side for a whole different wedding party. When we showed the bartender the receipt for our rental, they accused us of cancelling but soon after backed tracked and admitted someone didnât put it onto the calendar. After talking to the bartender, he gave us his word and assured us that we will get a refund for their lack of service. There were random people in the balcony and the only thing exclusive about this reservation is that the were exclusively rude and disrespectful to us that night and also the following days when trying to discuss the situation.
We emailed Brandon (management). He continues to deny their fault and refuses any refund. His reasoning is that our argument is weak despite having their bartender admitting we were not put onto the calendar.
