Was excited to see a new place open in this jinxed location. Not sure if it was the residual bad mojo from the countless other eateries that have been in the this spot or just poor training and bad business management. Maybe they should have stuck with the truck as a delivery medium.. Anyway. Asked to dine in. Was handed a bag at our table when it was "done". Was not asked for a drink option. Spices were way over the top even on mild. Maybe a one size fits all thing. Cat fish was cooked but soggy. Chicken was dripping of fresh grease. Good thing they include white bread on the bottom so it does not soak the box. Over all meat: over done chicken with WAY more than ordered spices. McCormick will love them while they last....Soggy catfish. Sides: Coleslaw was not bad. Had a hint of sweet raisin in it. A good surprise considering the over powering meats. Potato salad was very good with a lot of bacon. Can not go wrong with gobs of bacon. Could have done with a bit less mayo but overall a good bite. Mac and Cheese was good with a different twist. Like it had a base of Cream of Mushroom soup. Different and cheesy. So, lets review. Don't bring cash. They don't take it. CC only. ?!? Odd...Also, don't feel bad about not tipping.. do you tip at McDonalds? I didn't thinks so... Make sure you ask specifically for a drink. Get no spice on your meats. Am sure they will hit it with a BAM any way just to get you. Sides are the best part of the menu. I give them until February (being overly generous) and then we will see what opens next...
Read moreBRO!! I have been going around Hoover for the longest time and I haven't seen this place yet?! I'm totally missing out but this gives me an idea because I've tried out other hot chicken places before, Hattie B's, Dave's Hot Chicken, etc.
Service: Lady up front was SUPER nice!! I loved it and I would definitely come back to this location, she let me know what to get on the menu because it was my first time coming to that restaurant, there wasn't that many people surprisingly, I just went here at a good time.
Atmosphere: It gives off like a Louisiana vibe to it with all the things on the walls and kinda old school too, there are high chairs and low chairs with tables if you like sitting up high or low, family, group of friends or by yourself, you will always find something around you might entertain yourself with.
Food: This is a step up from Hattie B's but only slightly, they have a lot more menu options which helps! Every hot chicken restaurant I go to, I get at least a tender and a chicken sandwich or they call it a sammwich which I find unique as a name 🤣 I only got the 2nd hottest flavor "Hot Damn" on the sammwich and "Hot" on the tender, they have comeback sauce and bbq sauce but they have others too! The french fries are like McDonald's but more crispy and with some pepper on top too! Along with some freebies including vanilla cake, a pink lemonade ish drink (homemade!!!) and a banana pudding (yogurt if you make it cold!)
Overall, I think I took way too many pictures 😅 but hey I'm tryna deliver with these...
Read moreI made a second visit and enjoyed my Catfish Po'Boy and fries. The bread was very fresh and fries were seasoned perfectly correct for my liking. My husband had a chicken finger sandwich which did not have enough seasoning, but it had the perfect crunch. At the counter is a punch card so you can earn a free meal. Grab it because it was not made known to me during my first visit. Please be patient because it is clearly written that orders freshly cooked. I rated them a three because the cashier taking our order, yesterday, could have cared less in my opinion. No smile, no warmth, no desire to suggest anything, no desire to show any type of customer service. We saw others with cups for drinks and wondered why we didn't get any(we did order drinks). The same lady who took our order also delivered our order and again, no nothing. I asked about our drinks, she looked at our receipt, grabbed some cups, never said a word and handed them to us as she walked away. I tried to remember that everyone doesn't smile. But, deliver customer service when you are the main point of contact at a business because it matters. My husband and I do not plan to go back in a very long time. We won't...
