My wife and I "dined" there tonight. We were immediately seated. Our waitress Nika(?) took our drink order and our sushi menu. No problem there. I always order filet, shrimp, and scallops at any Japanese restaurant that I go to. If it is not on the menu, it is a small upcharge. I asked our waitress about the upcharge and she said she would ask. 10 minutes later she asks for our order. I AGAIN ask her about the upcharge and she vanishes again. She appears after some time and says that it would be a $1 upcharge from the standard steak. No problem. Sushi was delivered. Average to slightly below average quality. Table chef was very good although they skimp on the fried rice. He cooked well and engaged the other diners. Now for the check. It was brought out. She overcharged us for the meals and charged us for an extra beverage. We called her attention to it and she hurried off. At this point everyone else at the table has left. Another group is seated at an adjacent table. We ask that waiter to check on our waitress. Several minutes later they send a front-house worker to us to explain that our waitress was new and that the upcharge would be $2 per person and they COULD NOT change that. Really? She gives us the bill. The extra beverage is still on there. We brought it to her attention. She hurries off. 15 minutes more elapse. Finally, a female manager comes to us. She gives us the check, apologizes again, and says that they CANNOT change the upcharge. They are adamant about a total of $2. Ridiculous! We just took it out of the gratuity. I told the hostess we wanted the drums and sing happy birthday, and we had a special request for a picture we saw on their website where the rice was laid out as I ā¤ļøU just so it would be special. The hostess told me to tell another man, he then said wait until you are seated and tell your waiter. The waiter then said tell your cook since he is the one cooking. This was not a good experience as I wanted this to be a surprise but i kept being told to tell someone else and I didnāt not want to yell it over the table to where they would know about the surprise. The cook then just did the heart with the rice and not the I ā¤ļøU. Then after we all received the checks I thought they had forgotten to sing happy birthday but they came out with a boat desert and was told they were to busy for the drums and sing happy birthday so we just did it ourselves at the table. I would not recommend Sumo Hoover to celebrate a special occasion as we paid over $100 for Lunch and they do not care to help make a birthday special that we had came their to celebrate. We will never go back. We were also given a menu that said dinner menu when it was 12 they said they only offer dinner prices and menus. This was a first and last for us! I will not forget this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMarch 7th my boyfriend and I went to sumo we waited to be sat for hibachi not to long about 15 minutes then we were sat in the back of the restaurant so my boyfriend and I order water to drink and then another family came to sit with us so we give the server our our order and then he brings us back the soups and they are literally sliding all over the table from the soup spilling over as he was carrying the tray ok so I order lobster,steak,shrimp with extra rice and only broccoli as my vegetables So we wait about 40 minutes on the chef and he basically left out my whole order they didnāt give me double rice nor did they cook my broccoli on the grill then when I asked them they ignored me and said they will make it in the back and I told them no I would love thatās it cooked onthe grill because I wanted it cooked in the sauce and they still ignored me and cleaned the grill so I asked for a manager and he kept trying to defend his server when he was giving us bad service all night long not even checking on us also the manager kept asking how could he help us fix our problem then they assumed we didnāt pay then ran after me and my boyfriend and grabbed my boyfriendās arm we will never be back and honestly I want my money back cause this was harassment and I know thatās against all policy and protocol I will be calling corporate WORST SERVICE EVER...
