My family and I have been going to Cajun steamer for a long time now. I'm sorry to say that we won't be back after today. I've never felt so unwanted anywhere else in my life. The waitress we had was so rude and condescending with her looks and attitude. She had a forced smile with obvious distaste for us being in her section. She tells us that today was all you can eat crawfish. My kids were thrilled to hear that. I asked if we all ordered separately or if it was one order for everyone( I only asked this bc in her presentation of this "today's special" it sounded like that was the case). Well, turns out that she told us that one order was for everyone. That's fine. The kids and the husband are finished with 2 pounds in seconds flat. We ask for a " refill " on crawfish by saying " could we get another bowl of crawfish?" She then says " you want an empty bowl?" ( insert same condescending forced smile). Nope. No bowl. Just more crawfish. She just walks away. 13 min later someone comes with a small bowl of maybe 10 crawfish and tosses it on the table. It happened fast enough that I didn't see anyone's face. We all look at each other in hopes that the next thing we see is a group of cirque de soleil dancers playing " you're on candid camera " in the background. Needless to say that did not happen. We then wait another 15 min to get our check bc she disappeared only to reappear out of nowhere. We ask her for our check and she was real quick to take the money. The fastest is seen her the whole time we were there. She brings my change back in $38 in all one dollar bills. I left a $10 tip. She took it, said nothing to us and walked away. We left and no one spoke to us. T he guy that held the door for people walking out looked me in my face as I told him thank you and he snubbed his nose at all 4 of us. Only for me to hear him say you're welcome to a couple walking in after us. I have no clue why they decided to not like us, but I was so uncomfortable. I was most upset bc my kids noticed their behavior. They didnt understand bc hadn't done anything to anyone. Even when my son talked to her ( he told her he was excited about eating crawfish) she ignored him. Extremely rude wait staff. I watched as they took turns complaining about their customers. They compared tips and had no shame about who saw them doing so. This place is not what it used to be and...
Read moreDisappointed to say the least. When I arrived the restaurant was slow. Jordan and another girl was sitting at a booth to the right backs against the wall. The said sit where you want. It felt like a lottery to see where we sat as to who was going to serve us. Let’s just say we didn’t win the lottery with Jordan. It went directly down hill from there. We asked to move because the sun was coming through the window and she looked like she got mad. My husband just responded “I will just sit over there.” We ordered 2 Appetizers. The Boudin and gator tail. The picture I added is the pieces in Reference to a quarter. When I asked the server about it she said that’s the size. 20.00. Keep in mind we eat here a few times a year with clients. When they in town. We knew it wasn’t acceptable but moving on. I went to the bathroom after peeling my shrimp and the soap dispenser fell off the wall. No soap. No Paper towels. No server came back to bring back any napkins. So I took a piece of a roll . 5 cheap napkins off of another table. Took rolled silverware off of other tables. Workers walking all around. We ran out of beverage 1/2 through meal. Jordan came back right before we left to ask if we needed anything. What I wanted to say was Jordan you see the dang glasses are empty, the alligator tail was just batter, my hands smell like shrimp and the fact you brought no refills, no napkins and thought the gator tail was acceptable just went to show you didn’t really see to care if I needed anything anyways. Service sucked (Jordan), food (gator tail) was ridiculously over priced, bathroom is in need of repair. No one wants bad service and shrimp hands. Not to mention share a beverage when you pay for two. It’s in...
Read moreWell, what can I say? While in the past this has been a favorite of ours. Vey good food on a consistent basis. But these last couple of years it’s been hit and miss. And today’s visit pretty much ended any chance of returning.
First, the good stuff: Our server was very decent. The shrimp and catfish was excellent.
Now the bad: I ordered the full muffuletta. It’s really good if you like bread. If you’re looking for the meat or olive loaf go somewhere else. I literally took the meat from an entire half and put it on a quarter piece to make proper sandwich. I couldn’t do anything about the olive loaf, it was nonexistent. It was maybe $2.00 worth of food for $20. Run away!
Next, my daughter ordered a trio of sides. The crawfish etoufee, fried green tomatoes, and hush puppies. The etoufee was thin, very thin. Barely any taste but whatever.
The death knell was that the hush puppies were raw in the center. No big deal, right? When we pointed it out they took the hush puppies and returned a minute or two later. Same order. They took her food and refried it. Pretty sure you’re not supposed to take food off of a table and throw it back into the fryer. And they were still raw in the middle!
I have no idea why the standards have so plummeted these last few years. This was our go-to when we wanted good food. For years. Now ... this. Oh well.
This is a prime example of why we started our food blog 6 years ago. Just buy the ingredients yourself and make it right at home. Just save yourself the money and have a better meal.
But, as I previously stated, the catfish and shrimp was good. Maybe just...
