This place is definitely the best ramen spot we’ve been in AL so far. Then why is my review 3 stars? First of all, my review is 3 stars that’s ever so close to being 4 stars. More like 7 out of 10. Second of all, I’m sorry but it’ll take me a knockout ramen to give anyone a 5 star review on any ramen restaurants including ones I visited in Tokyo and elsewhere else in Japan. I make my own ramen from scratch I’m not saying that my ramen is the best but I’ve been making it for a while and I know little bit about ramen. This place has pretty decent ramen - I had Miso Ramen and our son had spicy Miso Ramen. Noodles had nice body (Koshi) to them and they were cooked pretty nicely (softer side of Al Dente) but had Kansui (soda) smell to them. Maybe because they were originally frozen and didn’t cook evenly? Soup had pretty good Miso flavor but lacked in strong stock flavors. Couldn’t tell if it was Torigara (chicken stock) or Tonkotsu (pork bone flavor). Or maybe, Niboshi (dried sardines). I just wish it had little more savory flavors (Umami). Aji tamago (egg) was little over cooked for my taste and didn’t have much of flavor. But Chashu (pork belly) was pretty good. We also had Gyoza which was pretty decent. I think if they can improve on those things that I mentioned, they can produce really good ramen. This place definitely has potential and I’ll be back again since it’s very close...

My wife had the Guydon Bowl, and it was almost inedible. The beef was super dry and crumbly. Appeared to not be very fresh and overly seasoned to mask that fact. Almost similar to a sweet beef jerky, which wouldn’t normally be a bad thing, but not for a guydon bowl.
Also tried the miso soup and a fresh salad. Salad was delicious, but the miso soup wasn’t. The ratio of miso to liquid was a bit off, which made it a tad too salty and over powering. We have had Fuku in Tuscaloosa and loved it. We had higher expectations because of our great experience in Tuscaloosa and hope they will...
Read moreWe were in the area and stumbled across Fuku and decided to stop for lunch. We were SO pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere, sweet staff, and fun decor.
We got the pork buns which were so soft and pillowy. Perfect to get us ready for two huge bowls of ramen. Tried the black garlic ramen and miso ramen. They gave us the option of having either spicy or not which we loved as my boyfriend loves spice and I like mine without. Everything was DELICIOUS and cooked perfectly. Eggs were soy marinated and so yummy. Chashu was nice and tender.
At the end of the meal we both got boba ( to go) which came in the cutest hard plastic cups with lids.
They just opened this week and I know this place is going to do so well. We will...
