venue has a more generalized oriental theme rather than an authentic Iranian identity — which, to be fair, makes it more inclusive and attracts people from various nationalities. The food is decent, although I haven’t tried the full menu; I’ve only visited twice.
However, the level of service is quite disappointing — a sentiment echoed by many others as well. The quality of their events is particularly underwhelming. In fact, the atmosphere resembles that of a nightclub more than a traditional restaurant. It’s somewhat similar to European-style hookah lounges, though this place does not serve alcohol.
The majority of the guests seem to be over the age of 50, and there is no enforcement of any dress code. It appears that the management is more focused on maximizing attendance rather than delivering quality.
Unfortunately, the restaurant manager lacks the most basic professional etiquette — no greetings, no gratitude, and no farewells. While it’s claimed he’s been in this business for 15 years, it’s important to note that running a restaurant is very different from organizing quality events.
I performed there once and deeply regretted it. It was, without a doubt, the lowest-quality venue I’ve ever performed in — filled with heavy hookah smoke and lacking any sense of atmosphere or respect for live performances. To be honest, a USB drive with pre-recorded music would suffice for their needs — there’s no real appreciation for DJs or live artists, as they seem to lack the understanding of what proper event planning entails.
The stage was awkwardly surrounded by flower arrangements, giving off the vibe of a memorial ceremony rather than a lively event. One wishes the organizers had a chance to visit European venues to truly understand what quality service and ambiance look like.
I genuinely feel sorry for the Iranian community in Houston. It’s disheartening to see them having to settle for such subpar experiences and pay for such...
Read moreAban Persian Restaurant is a truly delightful spot with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with friendly smiles and a comfortable vibe that makes you feel right at home. The temperature inside is always just right, and the seating with cozy couches and well designed chairs. invites you to relax and enjoy your meal. One of the standout dishes here is their soup, which has a homemade taste that brings back memories of traditional Persian kitchens. Some of the main dishes are also incredibly flavorful, served fresh and seasoned perfectly. Don’t miss the Barbary bread, which is a rare and tasty treat in Houston!
The service is excellent, special thanks to Doonya and Nasim, who were both very attentive, kind, and professional. Tael is also amazing always friendly, helpful, and makes you feel like part of the family. On weekends, the place gets even more lively with a live DJ playing Persian music, adding to the authentic and festive experience. The lighting and wall design, featuring pictures of historic places in Iran, add a cultural touch that enhances the whole vibe. Prices are very fair for the quality and atmosphere...

The staff are very courteous The food portion is big The establishment is renovated and clean
HOWEVER
The kitchen is not well organized. It took a long time to serve the dishes and when the food started coming to the table they did not come in at the same time or even in a short window, one of the folks got the food when everyone else was done with theirs. The orders did not all come as they were requested. Joojeh without rice came with rice and salads were missing! The Noon va Sabzi plate was very small with few small pieces of bread (compared to other Persian restaurants) ; we asked 3 different folks for tea and they finally brought it 15-20minutes later and 2 cups were missing which we had to ask again!
Overall: food and staff are good, but the management has to work on a better plan for service and coordination of front staff and...
