This place popped up a month-ish ago, and I was immediately curious. Most places near here in Westchase are run down or old school. So to see a cute cafe show up on my radar was already an immediate plus.
I had scoped out the menu, and the prices were beyond reasonable. When was the last time you saw avocado toast with - not one but two - eggs for $10? Most price points were below the teens range, which is not the norm these days, so my curiosity built up even more.
Well, today I went hard at yoga and took two classes back to back - my Fitbit said I burned 900+ kcal so it was time to visit Cosmo.
We walked in around 12:30. My partner in crime chose the deluxe burger. I had originally set my eyes on the French toast but asked Rami (sp?) who seems to be the owner for his top favorites, and he recommended sandwiches or fish tacos - fish tacos, it is.
Let's be real. When I see fish tacos on the menu, I fear the batter will be soggy or the fish would be not as good - maybe it will be grilled and flat, who knows.
But these tacos - fall flat, they did not. Three massive tacos with fish battered light and fried to crisp - they were topped with mango arugula salad with a lot of lime in it - perfection. If they had skimped on the salad, it might've felt really heavy, but they did not, and while each bite was refreshing, even two tacos filled me up.
I haven't been this satisfied with a dish in a long time. I admit, the cute chocolate pudding Rami gave us on the house had perked me up already, but really, from presentation to size and flavor, this was the most I have been impressed by a dish in a while at this price point.
We were thinking about trying the French toast but were too full and decided to come back tomorrow instead :D Maybe we'll even take advantage of the free gelato. With certainty though -...
Read moreI had one of the most amazing first-time experiences, I've ever had anywhere. Anytime I'm over in this side of town, I'm for sure coming back. Today is my baby's first birthday, we came down this way bc we were going to take her to a pool, but it was closed. :/ So I started just trying to wing what we could do to make her little day special. Tbh, I was feeling a little down. On my son's first birthday, his dad was super involved, and we were doing the whole family thing. Now, here we are for my daughter's first birthday, and her dad couldn't even pick up the phone and call. My 2 kids and I went in and ordered the food and as we were waiting for the food, I went and picked out a "happy birthday" dumdum lollipop and told my son," Look! For Xaniahs Birthday " and we went to go find us a table.
As we were waiting for our food, the waitress came over and asked if we wanted some desert. I declined, but then she sweetly offered it as a gift for my baby's birthday 🥹
I picked her out a little treat and took her to the bathroom to wash her hands, and when I came back, they had her treat, with a little pink candle lit on it playing happy birthday on the live speaker for her!!!!😭😭😭
They even decorated her ommlete plate in ketchup, saying happy bday! 🤎
Thank yall so much for the great food and service and for going above and beyond on my babies birthday!!! -Sincerely, Burnt...
Read moreSince Corner Cafe & Bakery closed down in Westchase Square we’ve been bouncing around between grocery store Starbucks for mediocre coffee and Eggcellence Cafe for a better than Denny’s breakfast. Nothing in this area beats our meal this morning at Cosmo Kitchen.
We got there early this Sunday and Wily went out of his way to meet our requests for food and coffee, despite later arrival of his staff. The place is clean and bright and has a nicely sized, covered outdoor seating area which is lacking in most eateries in Westchase.
The avo toast and fried egg I ordered came with a generous portion of rocket and peppers and tomato relish in a lemony vinaigrette. It was a decent portion and very fresh, unlike what you normally get at other breakfast diners. My hubby’s thickly folded omelette and generous bacon stuffed in a flakey croissant beats any breakfast sandwich within a 5 mile radius. (Better than Minuti!!)
The latte we ordered had a double shot of expresso, a bit too strong for my taste, requiring additional steamed milk which he promptly served alongside a serving of loose brown sugar. He went out of his way...
