I when to this place base on all reviews people posted here, I try to sell two rings and bullion gold bar and a coin, the lady who’s helping me don’t seems to have the knowledge on how to inspect diamonds and precious metals.. first she use the scanner then an acid test living horrible marks on the side of the rings (I understand they have to scratch the ring on a hidden area) and if she use the scanner why scratch the rings? that make no sense any ways she scratching the coin as well… this tells me that she doesn’t know, there are other ways to check coins with out damaging, (scratching coin on the stone) Mexico 10 pesos gold coins are well know coins any skilled jeweler will identified this right away … well not the case here! Finally their offer was waaay to low I understand that this businesses had to make money and they use for reference the gold spot price.. base on that most businesses take off 10 to 20% for profit… well this place try to take about 32% off the gold spot price .. to me this is very abusive! Mexico 10 pesos 7.5gr pure gold content, the spot price in New York at the time 1967/oz the gold spot price for the coin will be $474.35 from that amount take your 10 to 20% profit… that’s all! Their offer $325.00 for the coin they try to give me. Also she told me that one of the rings was 14k when in reality both rings are 18k since I was already shopping around this was my 4th place all other 3 places check my items and no issues at all so I finally had to go back to HPM (Houston Precious Metals) midtown area for the better quote… Please shop around first and places like this STAY AWAY!

Since I wasn't able to reply to the owner I just to add few more thinks .. the only item your guys don’t want to buy was a the silver bar (the reason according this person because was a mix with something else ) but you want to buy the gold bar the purity was questionable was between 22k and 23k but let’s assume it’s 22k 98.2gr pure gold content 89.95gr 2.89oz X 1967 spot gold price =$5689.19 .. 18k gold band 21.5gr with 17 dia @ 1.5pt each 18k white gold ring 19.6gr with 66 yellow diamond and 62 white dia. @ 2.56ct and the gold coin 8.33gr .900 @ 7.5 pure gold content .. your guys offer me for all $5285.00 If the bar was ilegal according to you why wanted to buy? The city of Houston Sec-7-90 articles to be retained placed on hold, exceptions.. don’t said anything about what you mention.. only that you have to send the police my information and items I presented to you and photos . And lastly the coin has a numismatic value ..date 1920 .. not 1959 and HPM pay little more for that .. Thank you

Thank you for your very informative explanation and clearly understand even I’m not completely agree with you.. the information you posted and I posted speak for them selfs.. If you consider my items I presented to you as an illegal act, why you just don’t said it up front “I pass” like you did with the silver bar, instead you offer me $5,285.00 for all, however, what would be happen if I decide to sell it to you and take the money you offer me…? Base on your statement is not ilegal? What business reputation you talking about ? What business fair and ethical reputation you talking about? Unless you have other concept of this acts I’m sorry but to me you actions are just to take advantage of the situation most of us decide to get rid of out items mainly for economic reasons. And lastly, do you think if my items are illegal I would sell on the open market giving you my personal information that I know you are obligated to give it to the law authorities? I would never buy anything else here ever again and I would never recommend this place to anyone. Not even my worst enemy.

My husband designed and bought our engagement ring here in 2017. The attitudes we get everytime we’re here is astonishing. Especially from Gigi - who was the original sales person. It’s ridiculous.

Everytime we’ve come in since original purchase is we’re told there was no original purchase even though the original sales person remembers. Their system can’t find the order. Then can magically find some details under my name which makes no sense because it was a surprise engagement.

My ring got resized recently (my husband was told at sales time lifetime resizing - but they declined this and advised it was full price. They eventually wavered and gave it to us at no cost which I did appreciate) and I realized after a few days I picked it up that there was a massive gap on one side that I hand noticed before. So I brought it back in. Of course I get an attitude about it.

The First lady told me that it was my fault there was a chip on it. Then she took it to the jeweler who stated he’s NEVER touched my ring ever in his life. Again, we bought it here, have had it resized once before this resuzing and then it had been resized a week prior to this interaction.

Long story short - Mary (who is the most helpful person in this store) said she would take care of it. Would be completely redone.

They called us and let us know it was completed. All better. I go in and it’s almost exactly the same. Barely any different at all.

They take us back to the jeweler who tells us that it’s the head is crooked and the only way to resolve would be to get a whole new head. At their expense. Great, let’s get this taken care of. I even at this point offered another solution where we would take on some of the cost and maybe upgrade the ring. We were told we would get a quote by the end of the day.

We left again and less than 2-3 hours later we get a text with a video sayings it’s completely fixed and resolved and we can come pick up the ring. No quote.

Here we are again, at the store right now and it’s still imperfect which I’m just at this point going to settle for because I’m so massively over this place and the customer service we’ve received....

Houston Jewelry has lots of inventory. However, the most valuable jewel in that store is Lily. From the moment I walked in she treated me like her own son. She is always available and never promised something she could not deliver. Lily is very easy/flexible to work with and provided me her personal cellphone number to reach her directly with questions and/or concerns. On one occasion she waited until I finished work and stayed long after the store’s closing time; helping me design the perfect ring! She even came in on her day off to accommodate me and contacted me throughout her vacation out of state. Frankly she was one of the biggest reasons I took my business to Houston Jewelry. I was on the verge of pulling the trigger and purchasing a diamond ring from another source, and she was the sole reason I did not. I must add that all employees were super nice and friendly. And Rex was extremely knowledgeable, welcoming, and accommodating. I shopped for the perfect engagement ring in many stores and online. However, the price and quality I was offered by Houston Jewelry could not be matched ANYWHERE!! In addition, they have bunch of Better Business Bureau awards and stand behind their products. I highly recommend visiting their store (even if you are not ready to purchase) and getting a quick education in jewelry and diamonds. I could not be happier with my purchase and because of my experience with Lily, Houston Jewelry gained a customer for life!!! I am certain that I will visit Lily for the band, guard, wedding gift, and all other...
