Ok, I'm calming down.
But, seriously though, this place is right on the money for a number of reasons.
Firstly, this place is all about value. You will spend $8 here on a meal that will last you 2 days or feed you and your friend. (the problem is, it's so darn good it will not last that long, I'm telling ya!). Sandwiches are $4-5, and you can add a cucumber salad, rice, and hummus to them with a "platter" option for just a few dollars more.
I have to admit, to the average Houstonian this place might be a bit intimidating - imagine a truck stop, Quick-e mart, etc... But it is super clean, well-organized, and believe you me, once you taste the delicate balance of Mediterranean flavors, and your mouth does a little two step/samba/salsa, you will be HOOKED!
The hummus is outstanding, nutty, and creamy, the gyro is possibly the best tasting meat-wise I've ever had, and the falafel is pretty boss. I have a friend who swears by the shwarma and kafta: garlicky and minty meaty goodness.
This place also has a variety of beer, wine, beverages, and anything else you might need. Lose your t-shirt at the bar? Break your headphones while running? Need a shower? (There is a shower in the restroom!)
Oh, and now featuring prime outdoor seating on lovely Waugh Drive with picturesque murals.
Go, go, get over yourself and go! It's delicious. You can...

--- EDIT as of Jan 28, 2023 I am pretty disappointed to do this, but the quality at Al's Quick Stop has dramatically dropped. It's unreal how much worse it's gotten.
At first their prices started raising and I thought, "that's fine, I understand inflation is quite bad right now, but atleast I can still get my favorite Mediterranean food in Houston". I could tolerate size decreases and cost increasing IF the food tasted the same.
But here are the changes I've observed: Chicken schwarma consistently (multiple times I've been disappointed and hoped it was a fluke) dry. Rubbery. It tastes horrible, I literally could not finish eating it last time I purchased it and threw it away - to be honest I don't think it was even cooked? It was unbelievably difficult to chew. Lentil soup is half the size and tastes extremely watered down. Tastes terrible now, I don't even purchase it anymore because of how much it tastes like water. Cauliflower is half the size it used to be and far less flavourful than it was in the past.
I am so sad that such a wonderful place is so legitimately terrible now, I need to find a new go-to Mediterranean restaurant since I love Mediterranean...
