Unbelievable experience and hospitality, so we were visiting Houston, and after dinner decided to have some chai Shai, meetha sheeta, and gup shup masti wasti. We got there around 8:30 and saw dim lights, wondered if they were still open, and went to the counter. There were only two families, hardly 6 people, and the person behind the counter said, of course, no greeting greeting. She said (loudly) We have only chai and I said I hope so because we came for chai. Since we have never been there, we have no clue what else they serve there. Since we had dinner, we came for only chai or dessert. We ordered 3 chai (different kinds) and started reading their menu after paying them, of course. We liked the menu and told each other we should return for food next time. During that time, one family gets up and leaves without having anything. We said oh well, let's wait for the chai and told our friend, who is Canadian, how our culture is kind of based on hospitality chai. We ask guests if they don't want to eat still you must have chai. Chai is our connection and to learn about each other. Almost 15 or 20 minutes later, chai came, and I asked her if sugar was available. She pointed towards the entrance. "Sugar is over there." So I got up to pick up Cheeni Sheeni, and as soon I returned, the same person said it was 9 0 o'clock and we were closing. I looked around. One family was still eating food, but she said I have to close the door. It's 9 PM, and we don't get paid for extra time. Oh, she wants us to leave with our chai. I said may I use your sugar? She said yes. Honestly, I have never seen this kind of attitude, and I respect that it's the owner's fault who doesn't appreciate their workers, and they don't care if a customer left happy or not. We picked up our chai Shai cups and went outside. We decided to drink in the car, but unfortunately, the chai was horrible. So, two of us throw our cups in the trash. It was hot water without flavor. Meanwhile, we apologized to our friend that that's not how our culture or hospitality is, just bad management. We are in the retail business, and once a customer walks in 30 minutes before, we don't ask them to leave the store. I was totally in a fun vacation mood. All I wanted was a good karak chai, some meetha. So are we planning to go back? What...
Read moreI went here a couple months back, their food was great and all. I revisited this places cause I was craving for their food, sadly I was disappointed in the lack of quality. The food although came out under 5 minutes, but you could tell that the food wasn't exactly fresh. I ordered their chaat, chai, samosas, bun kebab, club sandwich, and beef tacos. Their chaat wasn't as good as last time. The chai was good. The bun kebab wasn't warm AT ALL, you could tell that they had pre-made it, basically made it fresh and left it out in a warmer or something like that. The club sandwich was so good when I tried it last time, came here to fulfill my craving, only to meet disappointment. The cheese wasn't melted as last time, the Chicken had little to no filling, and the it came out cold :/ just wasn't the same feel as last time. I tried their beef tacos this time, and it was the same as the club sandwich, little to no filling, and cold. I ordered three different samosas, chicken, beef, and aloo samosas. They were good in taste, but last time they had fried it at that very moment and this time they had refried it. I get it, it's an express location, or maybe it's because we dined in on a typically slow day, however these are all pathetic excuses to serve cold food that only drops their quality in taste. This place has so much potential in becoming a successful business, however if their food remains the same, it honestly wouldn't succeed. In short summary, the food was cold, had little to no meat filling, quality of food dropped by a lot, and overall isn't the same vibe. Trust me when I came here to fulfill my craving I had for their food, only to meet disappointment, I was pretty bummed...
Read moreThis was our first and probably last time at Chai Shai. Our family decided to join our friends and their kids who have been raving about this eatery . I am not sure if this is the same owner who ran the orignal business on hwy 6 and westbelfort or not ( always good welcoming) coming down to pricing it was pretty steep for snacks $ 20 (2 chais, 1 $8 canned mango shake, order of French fries which wasn’t worth it, place is small and very congested we will not be returning because the associate behind the cash register asked us to leave due to the amount of room our kids were occupying. 3 families - 2 kids each. Cashier looked as if he is clearly frustrated with his work he kept saying customers were coming there were barely two to three peple waiting for pick up order he was just generally rude and frustrated . Shouting at us to stay near the tables so the hallways are clear but we were actively trying to get our kids to adhere (my friends daughter has a CAST on her leg and is on wheel chair we had kids from 2-8 YO) and we were asked to leave - It’s 108 degrees outside. horrible place for families, and I’m absolutely appalled. awful service. Also, we were asked to leave while we were still eating because, apparently, customers walking in wouldn’t know how to navigate themselves from the door to the cash register. I wish i was making this up. but the whole situation was absurd. NOTE: To the owner, we would like to support your business. With this experience, I doubt we will be returning again . One thing you can do is please hire the right staff or just make your business for...
