Ordered “not spicy” option from Uber Eats as we regularly do and the food that was delivered was extremely spicy this time to the contrary. To an extend that it was just not palatable.
Called the store to speak to “Ernan” who just didn’t want to accept that the food wad overly spicy. He tried reasoning with us that “Indian food is spicy”. We have ordered from them before and the not spicy option was not spicy.
We’re Indian and we eat Indian food all the time. But we know what spicy is. This time it was extremely spicy and inedible.
After talking for 10 minutes, Ernan said they were going to remake the order and have it delivered themselves to our address just 6 minutes away.
Then an hour later called and talked to “Victor” who said food was ready and they were waiting for a driver.
Despite waiting an hour and 20 minutes, no food showed up.
When we called to inquire for an update, the owner (an extremely rude and unprofessional person) hopped on the Phone and says we were informed incorrectly by their staff. Said they were not gonna deliver the food and they asked us to take up the matter with Uber, then hangs up!! Why not say that the first time? We had been sitting at the dining table, hoping and expecting the food to arrive because that’s what we were told by their staff.
We have been longtime patrons of this place and will certainly not be ordering anything from them ever again. If the owner did not want to deliver, at least they should’ve had the courtesy to at least notify us that they weren’t going to re-make the food.
They could have easily fixed it, but instead, wasted our time, misled us and ruined our Sunday night dinner experience.
Lesson learned. These guys just do not care about their customers’ experience.
Not worth it. There are other options. Take your...
Read moreNut allergy warning: When I expressed a nut allergy, it was indicated that they could handle it with no issues with the Thali. I did have some concerns with a few dishes but it was hard to tell if it was a lot of spice or sesame, which can also trigger a light reaction. I'd be a bit careful but overall, I had a good meal.
Time-to-Food: ~12 minutes
We came for early dinner around 4:30PM and it was not that busy, though it got busier later in the evening. The restaurant layout is a mix of booths and open tables, pretty suitable for large parties.
I will preface by saying that I am not at all familiar with Indian cuisine. I rarely eat it because I grew up thinking that Indian food had a lot of nuts. Only partially true (kind of a gamble on things).
I ordered the Royal South Indian Thali and a Masala Chai. First, everyone was served a spicy soup-like dish that was a great start to the meal.
The Royal South Indian Thali was massive. I got some slightly different sides than my friend that ordered the same, perhaps because of the nut allergy. The curries/sambar were great with the rice and roti and the vegetables were delicious. I thought that the Halwa was my favorite dessert. The yogurt rice was more of an acquired taste (I was advised to mix it with the pickled spices, which I am not usually a fan of), as was the salted lassi. Others enjoyed them more than I did, but I was delighted to finish my meal with the masala chai.
There is a small upcharge for paying with a credit card.
Overall, pretty solid vegetarian cuisine and I'd definitely come back for some authentic food. One of my friends has been going here for over 10 years, so it definitely came...
Read moreI had gone to eat at this restaurant on Friday. Honestly the food was disgusting. I ordered the Thali. When the food arrived I found an insect 🐜 in the rice. The rice was changed, everything in the thali was horrible and horrendous. Its was hard to identify which dish is what and maybe they should use stickers to let customers know what each individual elements are. I had this thali just so that I can understand what is missing in these dishes and based on my experience having cooked all the individual elements of the thali separately this is what I felt. Avial- Drowned in coconut 🥥 and tasted horrible. Sambar:- A disaster tasted nothing like sambar my hostel sambar was better than this. Black chickpeas curry:- Undercooked chickpeas Rasam:- 4/10 Curd rice:- Horrible couldn’t eat tasted bland. Pineapple Curry:- Too sweet, inconsistent gravy. Sauteed Plantain:- Undercooked and spice work was laughable Roti:- Cold and hard to chew, didn’t even have the basic courtesy to add some butter or ghee
I would not recommend anyone to eat at this place. I felt overall the place lacked intent, flavor and hygiene. I was so hungry that I ate what I had and didn’t want to make a big issue about anything. This place doesn’t even...
