I was hesitant to leave a review but after seeing a similar review within a week of my own experience I knew it cannot simply be a fluke.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of visiting East End Hardware, and I must say it was one of the worst nights out I have ever had. The establishment's discriminatory policies and the behavior of the bartender left a sour taste in my mouth.

From the moment my friends and I walked into East End Hardware, it was clear that something was off. We were a group of diverse individuals, and it became apparent that the bar staff had a problem with our appearances. Despite being of legal drinking age, we were immediately singled out and subjected to unnecessary scrutiny.

The bartender, whose name I unfortunately do not know, refused to serve any one of us unless every single person in our group presented their IDs. It was clear that this requirement was not applied to other patrons, as we observed many groups of individuals being served without such strict enforcement. This discriminatory practice felt like a blatant act of profiling based on our young looks and our status as minorities.

While I understand the importance of verifying the legal drinking age of patrons, the excessive insistence on IDs for every person in our group was not only insulting but also highly inconvenient. It created an uncomfortable atmosphere that ruined our evening and made us feel unwelcome and targeted.

Furthermore, the bartender's attitude towards us was disrespectful and condescending. It seemed as though they were more interested in asserting their authority than providing quality customer service. Their lack of professionalism and empathy only intensified the negative experience we endured.

The discriminatory treatment we encountered at East End Hardware is simply unacceptable. Every individual deserves to be treated with fairness and respect, regardless of their age or ethnicity. It is disheartening to see a business openly engage in such discriminatory practices, and I would strongly advise others to reconsider patronizing this establishment.

As consumers, we have the power to hold businesses accountable for their actions. Discrimination should have no place in any establishment, especially one that is meant to be a social space for all. I hope that the management of East End Hardware takes this feedback seriously and works towards creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all of its patrons.

In conclusion, my experience at East End Hardware was marred by discrimination, a rude bartender, and an overall negative atmosphere. I urge others to think twice before supporting an establishment that promotes...

0/0. This place would be a hit for Gordon Ramsays Kitchen Nightmares. You will read it multiple times going throughout the reviews here. DISCRIMINATORY. The way I see it, a single review of racist or discriminatory behavior from a business is grounds for cancellation. I speak from my own experience visiting this place as my husband and I live in a nearby neighborhood and we loved the idea of a close spot to walk to and relax at but we made a mistake that we will NEVER make again.

First and foremost, the establishment is outdated and appears incredibly unsanitary. I can’t imagine eating anything that comes out of that kitchen. Smells inside. Staff were beyond rude and disrespectful. Upon entering the facility, it is apparent that none of the staff care about their environment or the people that come in as no one greeted us when we walked in. As a couple with visible mixed cultures and race, my husband and I have no issue leaving a business after we enter IF they fail to greet/acknowledge us. It’s impolite and poor business practices to do anything less than treat all customers the same. We refuse to spend any money or time anywhere where we are dismissed and/or overlooked. We approached their bar which carried mostly unrecognizable brands of liquor/alcohol, and we were blatantly ignored. Not one time STANDING AT THE BAR, were we ever acknowledged/addressed. The business did not have a full house which made it even more obvious of our presence on top of it being a Caucasian dominated environment. It was most definitely a choice to act as though we were not there. If I could rate this place with a 0 I would. I’m not even sure how they have 4 out of 5 starts besides that they are posting their own positive reviews to keep them on the map for new visitors. I don’t tolerate 1 instance of racist, discriminatory, or prejudice behavior and neither should you. This business is incredibly defensive to the negative reviews instead of handling negative experiences with empathy, compassion, and understanding. They don’t even try to be accommodating for the bad experiences people continue to have here which is why they are most likely losing more money a day than they are making.

Tip for the owner: get your business together before someone buys it out and turns it into a business that will actually thrive and support the local Houstonians as well as travelers regardless of where they come from or what they look...

I am deeply disappointed by my recent experience at East End Hardware. On a night out with a group of friends, I witnessed a bartender engaging in overtly rude behavior that was particularly targeted towards an African American man. This incident not only tarnished my perception of the establishment but also aligned with other reports of discrimination that have come to light.

During our visit, it became apparent that the bartender's behavior was inconsistent and biased. While serving my group of friends and me, they appeared to be dismissive and inattentive. However, when the aforementioned African American gentleman approached the bar to order a drink, the bartender's demeanor noticeably changed. They treated him with condescension, seemingly subjugating him to a different standard compared to the rest of the patrons.

This incident was distressing and deeply concerning. It is disheartening to witness such overt discrimination in a place that should be welcoming and inclusive. The bartender's actions not only displayed a lack of professionalism but also perpetuated harmful stereotypes and racial biases. It is crucial that businesses actively work to eliminate such discriminatory behavior from their staff and create an environment that values diversity and equality.

This particular incident is not an isolated event. I have heard similar accounts from others who have visited East End Hardware, further solidifying the existence of discriminatory practices within the establishment. It is unfortunate that an establishment with such potential fails to uphold the values of respect and fairness for all customers, regardless of their race or ethnicity.

I sincerely hope that East End Hardware takes these concerns seriously and initiates immediate action to address the issue of discrimination within their establishment. It is imperative that they provide proper training to their staff on inclusivity and diversity, fostering an environment where all patrons are treated with dignity and respect. Until there is evidence of a genuine commitment to inclusivity and equality, I cannot in good conscience recommend this...

One of the rudest bartenders ever. I was waiting to order a drink and the guy who entered the bar right before me order 3 drinks for himself and his two buddies. I approach the bar and order two drinks one for my buddy and myself. She then refuses to give me the drinks explaining there’s a law where she needs any many IDs as drinks ordered. I then reduce my drinks to 1 , presenting my ID to her, and she refuses me again. I take my seat with my companions and she follows me to the table to harass me again about trying to get multiple IDs. I state that she hadn’t done that to the person before me and she infers that this “law” didn’t apply because she knew him. I explain I’m not drinking anymore and she asks me to suddenly leave. This escalated to her getting the manager who checked everyone’s ID at the table. Everyone checked out to being over 21 and the manager then explains they’ve caught some underage drinking here. This was completely inexcusable and ultimately I wouldn’t recommend this bar to any first timer. Not to mention I was the only African American person at the bar which only added to the insult. Edit: The discourteous and thoughtless response from the aforementioned manager, who claims to be the owner, accurately reflects the overall experience I encountered. Furthermore, the manager's unapologetic reply not only disregards the fact that I made an effort to present my identification when requesting a change in my order to a single drink, but also neglects the fact that every individual at our table had already purchased a drink prior to the incident. It is evident that I was subjected to intense scrutiny solely based on my appearance, as explicitly suggested by the manager, who primarily focused on my perceived youthful appearance or lack of maturity ("40+ years old" in her own words). The undeniable truth remains that I was the sole African American individual present, and I am in fact six years older than the youngest member of our group, who is 23 years old, not 22. Regrettably, I am no longer welcome in an establishment where, from the outset, it appeared that my presence was unwelcome.

I really wanted to try their Bomb Pop Snowball when I went the week of July 4th, but when I asked the bartender she had no idea what I was talking about. I was the first person there on a Friday afternoon, so I almost showed her their Instagram account advertising it but I just ordered something else instead and decided I probably wouldn’t be there too long after my friend arrived. The Tiger’s Blood was yummy and I had a cucumber drink for my second drink. Their drinks are not very strong and the snowballs are definitely more for a cute photo than anything else. They offer light bites like sandwiches, have dart boards and TVs turned on to sports, seating at the bar, around the bar and on the patio, and bathrooms with 1.5 stalls. The building is non-descript and most people are unaware it’s a bar. With no flashing OPEN sign or audible music coming from the building people will assume the bar is closed or they have the wrong location. I saw a couple walk up to the door of the bar, think it was closed, and walk away. No one tried to stop them. If you’re looking for a chill spot with chill drinks where you won’t be bothered East End Hardware your place.

Great place! If you're looking for a cozy spot with great craft beer and a welcoming atmosphere, this local pub is a must-visit. The selection of rotating craft brews is always top-notch, with something for every palate, from hoppy IPAs to smooth stouts. What sets it apart is its pet-friendly vibe—bring your furry friends along and enjoy a laid-back afternoon on the patio. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the pub has a real community feel. Whether you're a craft beer aficionado or just looking for a chill spot to hang out with your pup, this place checks all the boxes.
