in town for the first night this weekend and came straight here. the vibe is great!! the food is great, we ordered multiple foods to share!! we’re from kc and this bar feels like home. only problem is every time we ordered we got way more than we ordered and charged for all of it. we walk in and order 2 tequila repos, 2 tequila blancos, a banquet and modelo. we ended up with 6 shots and the beers and charged for all of it. we took them and paid without complaining. then the next time we ordered we ordered 2 repos and 1 blanco, 1 mexican candy shot. we ended up with 2 repos, 2 blancos and 1 mexican candy shot and charged for all of it. which is fine cause we took it all and DIDNT COMPLAIN. its just the fact that we didn’t order all of that and were gonna be expected to pay no matter what. we are industry people from out of town and have no problem doing that, its just the principle. last round we got, we wanted to order a banquet and 2 repos and ended up getting a banquet, 2 repos AND A MODELO. again its fine we took it without complaining. it would just be nice to order once without the order being wrong - 1 or 2 too many. also the red hair girl was rude every time we ordered, a smile goes a long way especially with industry people!! we know how it goes and how stressed it is but thats the only things that have turned us off this place. other than that we will still be back for the rest of...
Read moreI was looking forward to checking out this place, but unfortunately, it’s just not ready for prime time yet. The vibe is fine, like a new dive bar feel. One of the bartenders were very friendly, but the moment a few people were trying to order, it all fell apart. For the number of bartenders and the number of patrons, the wait was way too long. One bar tender spent 70% of his time with his face buried in the POS system, then would walk clear to the other end of the bar, where there were two other bartenders, instead of helping people at his end. The food ordering kitchen was a mess, disorganized, and took forever for a simple dish. The prices were good, but the layout was awkward. Tables are crammed into a certain area around the bar, making it difficult to get to the food or patio. But then there’s swathes of open space once you do make it over to either of those areas. It just isn’t set up to be efficient. After two drinks and finally getting the food, I left and went to a place that also feels like a dive bar but is much more efficient. Nickel City is really going to have to up their game to survive with the prices they are charging. I hope they do well, but it’s a...

Let's talk drinks, shall we? The drink menu is like a playground for your taste buds. Ever tried a Pizza Negroni? It's not just a drink; it's an experience! Picture the savory essence of pizza combined with the bitter kick of a Negroni, all in one delightful concoction. It's a wild ride for your palate, and trust me, you won't want it to end!
Now, onto the food! While you might expect typical bar fare, prepare to be pleasantly surprised. Nickle City elevates classics to a whole new level of deliciousness.
The real cherry on top (or should I say, the token on top?) is the ingenious token system. Earn tokens with every visit and exchange them for 5-cent whiskey shots or beers on your next visit! It's like a grown-up version of collecting arcade tickets, and I'm already planning my return with a pocket full of change and a debit card in tow.
