Descent place, but nothing special. A friend said this was their favorite Mexican restaurant in town. I disagree. 👍We arrived just a few minutes before the end of happy hour. They came by quickly and got us a pair of margaritas at the Happy Hour price. 👎 We paid for their tequila in our margaritas. They tasted okay, but they weren’t very strong at all. 👍 I’d say the chips and salsa were the high points of the meal. The chips of cells are very tasty, and that’s the usual type of restaurant tortilla chip. The Amazon sauce was the star of the show, though! It’s a creamy green sauce that goes well with everything! 👎 I saw Chalupa’s on the menu, and asked if they were like the ones from Taco Bell. Our waiter said yes, but when they came out, they were tostadas! Frankly, I’d rather head Taco Bell’s Chalupa‘s. 👍We also ordered the border sampler appetizer dish as a meal. It has a good variety of tasty bites in it. I would say it’s the second best thing we had there. 👍 other than leaving us a stray on the Chalupa’s (a.k.a. The tostadas), the service is very good, and the atmosphere is good as well. If you’re looking for a reasonable priced Mexican meal, you could do worse than gringos, but I think you do better as well.

We went there on a Thursday for lunch about 1 o’clock. This was our first trip to this establishment. The place was very large and it didn’t seem too busy, but I believe they were short a few servers. It took us some time for us to meet our server and to place our order and then after we got our food, it was rare that we saw her and It was just a long time in between visits. The chips and salsa were very good however neither of these two sauces had any heat whatsoever to them, but they did have good flavor. I did ask if they had something hotter and she did bring me out another red sauce that had a real nice kick to it but it wasn’t overbearing. I ordered the shredded chicken chimichanga. I really like the way they brought it out. Instead of being covered and getting soggy with sauces all the accompaniments were on the side so you could dip or doctor your chimichanga the way you wanted to. The rice was very well seasoned and not just colored yellow with little or no seasoning like most Mexican restaurants. The refried beans had a nice texture to them and the flavor was good. Overall, we had a very good experience here and there are many more things on the menu we want to try. We do look forward to coming back.

WHERE TO BEGIN!? Today is Dominican Independence Day and though this is a restaurant with the most delicious Mexican Food, they were playing some of my favorite Dominican songs from my hay day! Matthew made this an INCREDIBLE FIRST EXPERIENCE! I’ve never been here before, but if everyone is like Matthew, I’ll be coming twice a month after church with my wife. My princess and I were EXTREMELY impressed with Matthew’s service, from the moment he introduced himself to the time the food came out, all the way up until we were ready to leave. Matthew was so much fun and we weren’t the only table he was waiting but I felt like we were the only people there because of his detailed care to our orders and our needs. I almost didn’t want to leave and wanted to befriend Matthew on social media, this guy has incredible social skills and he’s so humble because he’s only been working there since October! He told us IN DETAIL what would come with our meal and gave the best suggestions! Truly impressed me, my friend. Love you and your staff. Stay on your A game, Gringo’s! My church and I will be back for PLENTY MORE! Best quality food in Houston.

Being in the service industry I'm one who understands being in the quote "weeds" or occasionally messing up an order or maybe just having an off day. That being said this is definitely not the case. It was a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. We checked in at the host stand and were given a 20 minute wait, no problem there. They finally seat us, my wife and two year old grandson in the time frame they gave us in the bar area. It took 25 minutes before we were greeted by our server who was the bartender as well for our drinks. It took another 10 minutes before we got our waters and another 15 minutes before we even got chips and dip. We placed our order as soon as we got the chips and it took almost an hour till it was delivered to our table without our grandson food, which should always be brought out first or even offered (if you're a good server you know this). It took another 10 minutes for my grandson's chicken nuggets to come out and by this time our foods getting cold due to having to keep our starving kiddo distracted. Also I even placed the empty margarita glass on the edge of the table infront of the server/bartender and was not offered another drink. So we just asked for the check and to go boxes. Unacceptable. Yes he was the bartender/server but its no excuse for a bar that consisting of four patrons at the bar top, us, and another two top in his section. I understand that he has to make drinks for the whole restaurant but again this wasn't the case and had nothing to do with it in this situation. Seemed like the server was more interested in bar talk with the Sunday football patrons instead of providing...

Today, my mother and I had the pleasure of experiencing one of the best dining experiences we've had in recent months. We were first greeted by two amazing young ladies with beautiful, bright smiles that made us feel very welcomed. Then, we had the pleasure of being waited on by what I can only describe as a true gem, Mr. Sammy Rodriguez. From start to finish, Sammy provided top-notch, 5-star service. It was the fine details that my mother and I both noticed, setting this experience above and beyond any we've had before. We normally frequent another Gringo's location, but after this evening, we've decided that the Fuqua location may be our new favorite, thanks to Sammy's impeccable service and kind manner. Our drinks never went empty because Sammy was always there to refill them right away or replace them with a freshly filled glass. He even took the time to ensure that my mother's cucumber salad was served on a separate plate, keeping it cool so she could enjoy it without it being warmed by the rest of her meal. This was just one of the many thoughtful touches that made our dinner wonderful. And just when I thought it couldn't get any better, we had the pleasure of meeting Elizabeth Bolado, one of the managers at the location. She was phenomenal. Initially, we started off by praising Sammy and his exceptional service, but we soon found ourselves complimenting Elizabeth for how she conducted herself and managed the restaurant. All in all, this experience solidified this location as my new favorite Gringo's. If you visit, I highly recommend asking for Sammy or Elizabeth. They truly made our...

Great Service Overshadows a Rocky Start at Gringo's

Upon arrival at Gringo's, the initial impression was less than stellar due to an oversight in cleanliness. The saucers intended for chips and queso at our table were noticeably dirty. This was disappointing, and the situation was exacerbated by the host's response when I requested clean plates; his glare was off-putting and made me feel like a bother rather than a valued guest.

However, the dining experience took a positive turn with the introduction of our waitress, Bailey. Her attentiveness and genuine helpfulness greatly enhanced our evening. Bailey was quick to address our needs, offered great menu suggestions, and ensured our drinks were always refilled, bringing a warm and welcoming vibe that the host initially missed.

The food itself at Gringo's was delightful. The menu offerings were robust, featuring a variety of flavorful dishes that seemed well-prepared and presented. The ambiance of the restaurant, aside from the initial hiccup, was lively and inviting, suitable for both families and groups of friends.

In conclusion, while the start of our visit could have been smoother, the excellent service provided by Bailey and the quality of the meals served were enough to leave a positive impression. I rate Gringo's 4 out of 5 stars, as there is a slight room for improvement in ensuring that all staff members contribute to a welcoming atmosphere right from the beginning and that sanitary...
