Update 1/7: Back like I've never left. This time, I ended up getting the Combo Plate with Oxtails and Curry Goat. The plate came with Rice and Peas, Cabbage, and Plantains. Like I said in the last 2 reviews, every bite of the Oxtails and Curry Goat was like I'm in heaven, melted in my mouth good.
The Rice and Peas and Plantains were really good but the cabbage was not only seasoned really good but it was extremely tasty, which it's not difficult to pull off if you know what you're doing. Shae's service is unmatched every time. The cooks always do a good job.
Will return again and again.
Update 12/13: Well, we meet again. You know what, it was so good the 1st time, I had to come back again. This time I got the Rasta Pasta with Curry Goat and a side of fries (for my son). The Curry Goat alone was tender and full of flavor. I also love the spice in that dish, which I forgot to mention in my last review. The food I had so far was "off the chain" good.
Also, I just went in the Sam's Club parking lot and ate the whole thing and LEFT NO CRUMBS, it was that good. I ate a couple of the fries and it was, once again, not too crispy and seasoned to perfection. I'll give the fries to my son, he'll love it.
The service is unmatched by Shae 100/10. She has such an awesome personality. She even recognized me from the last time I showed up, which rarely happens in my world. I'll be back again and again and again.
Original Post: OMG!! This was everything I've imagined and more. I wanted to try something new in my area of town. I've passed by this place multiple times over the past couple of years. Tonight was the night that I try out this place.
I ended up getting a couple of things, Oxtail Rasta Pasta and a side of Fries. The Oxtail Rasta Pasta was one of the best I've had in a long time. The Oxtail itself was melting in my mouth. I was thinking to myself, "they really know what they're doing."
My son loved the side of fries. I tasted the fries and they were not too crispy and seasoned. The customer service from LaShae was amazing despite me coming in almost 30 minutes before closing. The cook in the back did an amazing job.
For my first time eating there and having a great experience, I'll most certainly come back and try...

Review: I recently had the pleasure of dining at Island Flavors, and I must say, it was an experience that left a lasting impression. From the moment I stepped through their doors, I could feel the positive energy that permeated the entire establishment.
Island Flavors defies the notion that good food can only be found where the service is exceptional. In fact, it goes above and beyond by showcasing that exceptional service can elevate an already outstanding culinary experience. As I sat down to indulge in their renowned oxtail dish, I couldn't help but feel a genuine sense of warmth and care from the staff.
The moment I entered, I was welcomed like family. The servers treated me with a level of attentiveness and kindness that is often rare to find. Their passion for their craft was evident, not only in the delectable dishes they prepared but also in the way they interacted with each guest. It was clear that they took great pride in sharing their culture and flavors with anyone who walked through their doors.
The love and dedication that goes into the cooking at Island Flavors are beyond compare. Each bite of the oxtail was a symphony of flavors, tender meat that melted in my mouth, and a rich, savory sauce that transported me straight to the Caribbean. The authenticity and attention to detail in every dish were truly remarkable.
Island Flavors is more than just a restaurant; it's a place where you can experience the genuine spirit of hospitality. The atmosphere exudes warmth and positivity, making you feel right at home. Whether you're a local or a visitor, you'll be embraced with open arms and treated to an unforgettable culinary journey.

Read moreWe all know the infamous trope surrounding Caribbean restaurants. “If the employees aren’t rude? The food isn’t good” Well this establishment? DEBUNKS THAT MYTH!
When you first walk in you are greeted with a smile, every time! No matter who’s there! Island Flavorz is a vibe, at any hour at any time of the day. I am at a loss for words with how welcoming the staff is here, the only thing that could make this place better is if it was 24 hours. (Whataburger who?) Let’s talk about food…. since moving to Houston. My search for authentic island food has been a depressing journey. I’d given up, decided that any GOOD oxtail I get would have to be when I return back to Florida or visit anywhere near the Caribbean. Boy was I shocked when I had an oxtail plate WITH extra gravy that made me contemplate my life choices. I will happily take the 45 minute drive to Island Flavorz because every item I have tried on the menu thus far? Has been 10/10.
The Rum Punch will in fact punch you back if you aren’t aware but I’m here for a good time, not a long time. I want to stress the comfortability I have felt dining here, true hospitality. Karaoke Friday nights? have been my go-to for quite some time now! Forget the hustle and bustle of $20 parking, overpriced/watered down drinks just to not have a good time and come relax after work at Island Flavorz on a Friday. I mean have you ever been able to enjoy a Salmon Rasta Pasta or Shrimp Roti? with music, karaoke and a vibe here in Houston? — that actually was good enough for you to ask who’s making the food? Compliments to the chef!
This place is so underrated, but a hidden gem nonetheless! Nothing but blessings for this family owned business!
Honorable mention: Try a jerk chicken taco. Thank me later. Tell them...
