From the moment I walked into this restaurant, I knew I was in for a culinary experience unlike any other. The aroma of fragrant spices, slow-cooked meats, and perfectly seasoned rice filled the air, instantly transporting me back to the heart of Yemen, where I once had the pleasure of experiencing authentic Middle Eastern flavors during my travels.
The highlight of my meal was undoubtedly the chicken mandi—a dish that was nothing short of spectacular. The chicken was fall-off-the-bone tender, infused with the deep, smoky flavors of traditional Yemeni spices, and cooked to absolute perfection. The rice, fluffy and aromatic, complemented the chicken beautifully, with every bite bursting with a harmonious blend of saffron, cardamom, and other warm, comforting seasonings. Each spoonful took me on a nostalgic journey, reminding me of the authentic mandi I enjoyed while vacationing in Yemen.
What truly set this meal apart was the attention to detail in both the preparation and presentation. The portion size was generous, making it perfect for sharing, but honestly, it was so delicious that I wouldn’t have minded keeping it all to myself! The balance of flavors, the tenderness of the meat, and the overall authenticity of the dish made this one of the best meals I have ever had.
Beyond the food, the atmosphere of the restaurant further enhanced my dining experience. The warm hospitality, the traditional decor, and the friendly staff all contributed to an inviting and comfortable setting. Every aspect of my visit—from the first bite to the last—was truly exceptional.

Read moreI recently dined at the newly opened Kabsah restaurant right in the heart of Houston, Texas. I decided to give it a shot after spotting their intriguing sign, and boy, am I glad I did! Let me tell you, Kabsah delivers an authentic Yemeni culinary experience that will leave you craving more.
The moment I walked in, I felt a warm and inviting atmosphere that set the stage for what was to come. The food at Kabsah is the real deal, with signature dishes that truly impressed me. Being a fan of Yemeni cuisine, I had high expectations, but Kabsah managed to exceed them in every way.
Let me tell you about the star of the show: the Haneed meat. It was tender, flavorful, and absolutely mind-blowing. Each bite transported me straight to Yemen, and the satisfaction I felt was worth every penny. But wait, there's more! The freshly baked oven bread deserves a special mention. Picture this: hot bread straight from the oven, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. It was a heavenly experience.
I couldn't resist going back for more and exploring their menu further. The cooked liver, small-pieces meat, and Oatmeal soup Yemeni style were all delightful surprises. However, my personal favorite had to be the Fahsa. The blend of spices and tender meat left a lasting impression, and I can't stop talking about it.
The food at Kabsah is simply outstanding. I give Kabsah a solid 5 stars and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a genuine taste of Yemeni cuisine.
To get a glimpse of the mouthwatering dishes I enjoyed, I've added some pictures for you to feast your eyes on. Trust me, they're just a taste of what awaits you at Kabsah. So go ahead and treat yourself to a culinary adventure that will leave you with a smile on your face and a happy...
Read moreI stopped in here today on a whim, during a post-appointment drive around Hilcroft. At about 11:30am, I had the luxury of being the only diner for about 15 minutes.
The only staff I saw were a young server and the middle-aged chef, both soft-spoken gentleman with sweet energy. This is the kind of masculine energy I support.
Kabsah’s menu is extensive. Apparently they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner! I would imagine too that come Ramadan they might offer Iftar specials.
I ordered the lamb Mandi and araisy drink. The server brought my meal on a metal platter under a metal dome, producing a dramatic reveal when he lifted it: a gargantuan portion of juicy chunks of falling-off-the-bone lamb atop golden rice. The food was every bit as good as it looked! Despite a recent dental procedure making chewing an ordeal for me, I was able to eat the buttery soft lamb & tender aromatic rice with no struggle. The portion could have easily served two, but I ate the whole thing because I was extremely hungry.
The araisy was equally impressive. It was not too sweet and full of real strawberry and mango flavor. Plus, the bits of pear and pineapple in the bottom that had been marinating in the fruit purées were heavenly.
My entire meal was just under $30. Unfortunately I didn’t know they only accept cash tips, and I had no cash with me. However, they weren’t upset, just polite and kind.
Kabsah’s dining area is spotless, spacious, and modestly decorated. The restroom is impeccable.
I hope to be back soon with a group, because this is one of the best halal dining experiences I’ve...
