Little Ginger — Restaurant in Houston

A surprisingly poor experience, considering the great reviews I saw here. The food was just okay - we shared a variety of sushi rolls, none of which were impressive. Certainly not the best I've had, or even the best in the area.

Of more concern was the poor service, which made our experience very uncomfortable. The server apparently found a mess in the restroom, and made a very public display of accusing our daughter of making it. (There was no evidence that she was the one who made the mess, and her older and very responsible sister corroborated that she had nothing to do with it, but that's beside the point.) The proprietor came over, and I assumed he would gently reprimand the server for making an embarrassing scene over a petty and unfounded accusation. Instead, he backed her up and insisted that it was indeed a big problem. We considered leaving at that time, but were in the middle of eating and tried to let it go and finish our meal in peace. But the server brought it up again upon returning to clear the table, once again taking a condescending and disrespectful tone.

This underwhelming restaurant nevertheless presented an opportunity for a nice meal, had it not been so thoroughly spoiled by a staff and proprietor who clearly don't want to have customers around. Well, wish granted: I, at least,...

We had another wonderful dinner at Little Ginger! Sorry for the late review. We are actually going to dine with Michael at Little Ginger today! Very excited to enjoy some Uni! Michael texted my husband to let him know he was able to purchase some Uni as he knew we were wanting some! Thank you, Michael, you are a great guy and Little Ginger is delicious every single time! At our last visit, we enjoyed some edamame, fresh seaweed salad with squid, salmon, jalapeno crab and cream cheese appetizer (so yummy) and Austn Roll. Everything was fresh and delicious! During my Thursday lunch visit, I ordered the generals lunch portion of the chicken and it was very tough and didn’t taste like real chicken, so I couldn’t enjoy it. I ordered the Super Shaggy Dog, but that was also a letdown. I’ve visited this restaurant several times, but unfortunately, my most recent experience was very disappointing. The shrimp portion in my roll felt skimmed, and the roll itself was noticeably smaller than the same one I had the night before. I also asked specifically if the Super Shaggy Dog contained imitation crab, and I was told it did not—yet it came with crab stick, which is imitation.
