We love Luby’s. Idc if they say it’s for old people. It’s just a staple that I CANT shake. Every Sunday it’s PACKED. The line is outside the door! So be warned, if Luby’s is what you craving, go through the week & for better deals Saturday’s the kiddos are free. Now the food… I prefer this location over the other one on Murphy Rd closer to me. It seems a little fresher. I got the chicken fried steak (smaller than previous years) mashed potatoes & Mac and cheese. If we are being honest, get you some salt and pepper cause the sides…baby,it’s bland. My mom said her fried fish was a little on the tough side & my son, although I believe he ate the bone said his fried chicken wasn’t how it used to be. My girls enjoyed their tenders but I did notice they were quite small. Maybe it was rough cause it was busy. I won’t give up on you, Luby’s!

I eat out at my neighborhood Luby’s almost everyday either for lunch or dinner. Today, a Saturday afternoon and there was a large group that were done eat, yet they were allowed to stand around the table they were done eating at, talking loudly and laughing. No restaurant etiquette was displayed. They all were over the age of 65. When I asked management if he could control those in the dining area he stated,” I can’t make them leave”. I asked at least to ask them to respect other patrons that were there eating and attempting to enjoy their meals. He did so but they continued to “huddle” around eachother talking loudly. I really don’t think management knew how to address them.

I must start with atmosphere and service. This was my first visit here but clearly my mother visits all the time. The young man who recognized her by name and attended to us at the table...that's pretty cool. Keep in mind he doesn't have to learn the names of any customers. That extra desire to do so is what keeps patrons coming back. As for the meal, everything was tasty. I had a well cooked piece of salmon with zucchini and carrots. My husband enjoyed a plate of catfish and was satisfied. I also tried the mac and cheese and it was fine. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the chocolate pie, but that's no big deal. Overall, a delightful experience.

I went to the Luby's Cafeteria located on South Post Oak. While in the serving line, I asked the gentleman for an item on the steamtable, at which time he prepared the plate and passed it on. The lady at the next section had the same item, in a larger portion. My husband and I discussed sharing this item so I asked her if this was an option, and if it was may I substitute and I was willing to pay extra. She became irritated and called the previous employee over and complained about my request. When she was chastised by a fellow co-worker, she replied openly and loudly "I don't care! I get fussed at everyday". Surprised, I requested a manager and asked for the item again explaining we wanted to share and I would pay extra. The manager gave the item and we paid for the item and sat down. 10-15 minutes later, while my husband and I were still eating, a security guard came in, and announced that we would have to find a stopping point as the restaurant was closed. Surprised, I informed him we'd only just sat down. he advised that they closed at 8:30pm. I showed him my receipt, which reads 8:32pm as the time our money was taken. I also noticed he approached no one else and there were 3 tables in my area and 8 in another with people still eating. he again advised that it was after closing that I should have paid attention to the sign on the door. My husband and I quietly left. This has been a HORRIBLE and EMBARASSING EXPERIENCE!!! Neither I nor my husband made a scene at the steamtable, even when the server was so rude to us. When we went to pay for the food, the cashier did not tell us it was closing time nor did she give a to go container. The server in our area did not advise us we had to leave nor did she provide a to go container after coming to our table 4 times and serving my husband iced tea. BUT Luby's took my $ 27.54, gave horrible service, and then a security guard passed several tables and told us WE HAD TO FIND A STOPPING POINT this was before 9pm...less than 20 minutes after we came in. I have never had a more horrible experience. We have frequented this particular location for years. I am humiliated and completely mortified. I AM...

Place is very clean and pretty. This is the prettiest looking Luby's that I have ever visited! It got a huge parking to accomodate a lot of its customer, as well! On the left side of the restaurant is a to-go only order. The restaurant is normally busy during evening time especially if they have promotions! So if you're planning to call your order on those busy hours, then be advised that nobody would be picking up your call! And if someone did, s/he would tell you that s/he won't allow any phone call orders, for now, and that you have to go to the restaurant to personally order it there. That's understandable. I like that they're being fair to the customers who drove all the way to the restaurant to line-up for their order.

There is one particular server lady that is extremely nice out of all the servers here! But, I have forgotten her name again. Next time I go back to this Luby's and see her, I'll update this post to put her name because she deserves to be acknowledged! She is a very pleasant server who is very attentive, respectful, and polite to the customers! She always checks up on her customers to ask if they have everything they need. The other servers and staff here are just so-so, but this particular server lady stands out with her excellence of service!

Also, it is advisable, if this is the nearest Luby's restaurant on your place, to sign up for this Luby's promotions/newsletter on your email. This particular location is very active on sending emails of their awesome deals/coupons for you to print! They normally have BOGO (buy one, get one) combo meal or LuAnn for free offers here! To sign-up, go to Luby's website, click the eClub, and put your name, email address, birth date (month and day), zipcode, and your favorite Luby's location (this place address is TX - Houston 9797A South...

I visited this location on Thanksgiving day and was disappointed and disgusted. I was disappointed because of the set up with having one line to get food whether it was dine in or to go. The line was out in the parking lot and slow. My concern here is there was nowhere for the elderly or disabled to be seated until they entered the building. Some of the elderly people where alone so they had to endure the long line. I understand that social distancing needed to happen but better planning should have been put in place prior to Thanksgiving Day. My second issue was being majorly disgusted. After getting my food, I reached out to pay and a roach went running in the area. I jumped back and pointed it out to the cashier. She apologized and proceeded to wipe the roach away with a towel that was used to wipe the food area. The towel never was removed nor a clean towel added to the area. How gross!! Again Thanksgiving Day is a big holiday! Luby's management you knew it was coming up and you should have been on top of your pest control overall. Where there is one roach there are many others behind it. My final issue, the customers who had to go orders, had to walk away from the area where they paid for their food, while juggling food boxes to get bags. The bags to secure the to go orders were to far away and furthermore why is the customer having to bag their own food. A total mess!! I will NEVER patronize this...
