I went to pick up Lubys for dinner for my fiance and I here last week. First of all, they don't even have the full menu available..and it's not just cause it's to go and the options are limited compared to dining in..they literally don't have certain things they are supposed to there. What they have that day is printed on a paper on the cabinet that I assume they have to type up daily. When I first walked in I was stoked..there was nobody else there, so I thought itd be a quick stop. Then I waited what felt like a little too long before someone finally came to the front to ask me my order. But I brushed it off. No biggie. Then, i noticed she wasn't friendly, she just walked up and looked at me with no warmth and used her eyes to silently ask me "what?" pretty much. Now, I'm actually a very patient and bubbly person. So I took it all in stride and made conversation with her. I order okra as a side and boy was that the wrong idea. She went to the back to get my food and I sat to wait. And waited... And waited... Another customer came in and stood for a bit and then sat. Then finally the woman comes from the back and says she has to let the okra finish cooking for 3 or 4 mins. I say ok thats I'm fine, I was in the mood for okra for once. She starts taking the lady's order and about 15 mins later, after they cut up for a while, she finishes talking to her and goes to get my food. Well the fish was not fresh, she forgot the gravy for my potatoes completely and I didn't know til I got home, charged me for an extra roll I never got, and the best part? The okra was not hot and very soggy!! I didn't even eat 1/3 of my food. I was so disappointed. I refuse to believe the food got like that in the 10 mins it took to get it home. And then the food sucked after FORTY MINUTES of waiting??Never going...
Read moreMy father recently took me to Luby's, a place he frequented when I was younger, thanks to a recommendation from a significant client. Initially, I was unsure what to expect, especially with the "cafeteria" label. However, the experience turned out to be uniquely delightful. The building's architecture evoked a sense of familiarity, reminiscent of a hospital or assisted living facility, yet it surprisingly complemented the cafeteria's purpose. Unlike typical eateries, Luby's offers a buffet-style setup with an array of enticing dishes. The aroma alone was captivating, and the food looked incredibly appealing. The line featured a variety of options, including six types of fish and various pork dishes. I opted for the cheesesteak, made with premium ground beef, onions, green peppers, and melted Colby Jack cheese. It was exceptionally flavorful, especially considering it was served on a line. The mac and cheese and fresh red potatoes were also noteworthy. While my father's meatloaf was visually appealing, he found it bland and overly sweetened. However, he enjoyed the greens and mashed potatoes. The cashier provided excellent customer service, ensuring we had everything we needed in our to-go bag. Overall, it was a pleasure to visit Luby's and witness the dedication of its staff. We will definitely...
Read moreMy family and I have eaten at Luby's restaurants for over 3 decades. We've ALWAYS enjoyed the food and the customer service has always been excellent. Unfortunately, we had our first horrible experience at Luby's in the Kingwood Humble area. First, we stood at the beginning of the serving line Im not sure how long waiting to even be acknowledged. Next, when we finally did receive our pickled beets, the bowls were sticky and covered with beet juice on 5he outside. Additionally, while moving through the line spilled food was all over the serving area. Noone even bothered to wipe the areas clean. Presentation is everything. Some of the desserts seem to have not been placed inside their containers with care as they were crumbled and falling apart. Finally, my son ordered chicken fried chicken with cream gravy and it came out with brown gravy. He was told he'd have to wait 10 minutes, however it never came out. Needless to say, we drove from Fresno, TX to Kingwood to meet my Mother-in-law for Mother's Day as we hadn't seen her in over a year due to Covid-19 only to have the worse experience ever. I do hope that management and the rest of the staff gets better training in the very near future. They may want to reach out to the medical center Luby's or the...
